Hi All,
I rented and put 50 rounds through a Model 67 last month and really liked its balance. I just checked with several local dealers here in So. Cal and they can't seem to locate a new one for me - I'm told it's back-ordered and I can't get any idea if/when I'd be able to get my hands on one. Does anyone have any insight or advice re the availability of new 67's? I'm itching to grab one...Thanks!

Want some advice? Buy an old one, a no dash or -1. You won't regret it and you'll save a lot of cash. Good luck. Look at all of them on gunbroker. There are some nice ones on other auction sites, as well. Good luck.

The Model 67 is an excellent choice and, like sodacan recommends, I would look for an older one with the one piece barrel. It will be a better gun and you will, more than likely, save money.

Don't forget to consider the Model 15, the blue steel version of the Model 67.

I was responding to suggestions about buying on gun broker or other auction sites.
The rules for in state purchase get pretty complicated. I was just doing a search on the subject, and was glad I moved back to WA, in 1969!

Thanks all for the fine insight. I'll check with my local guys about whether I even have the option to pick up a used 67. Looks like the new 67-5 and 6 are fair game here in CA but I'm 0-3 on local dealers even being very familiar with this model. They all wanted to put a 686 in my hand which just did not feel as good as a 67.

Oh the joys of living in CA...

Let us know what you find. I think it is "the joys of big government". My experience is that what happens in California today is whats coming to Washington State soon. In 2005, we actually wrote the California vehicle emission laws into our State code. All cars sold in this State have to meet CA emission standards.

Your long range plans include moving to a free state, yes?

DaCounselor: I agree that the Model 67 has a better feel than the 686. I find the 686 to be a much larger/heavier feeling gun than the trim K frames.

In California you can buy a used or consigned model 67 from a dealer or in a face to face ppt(Private party transfer). But, these older guns cannot be imported into this State.

You CAN import them into the state. Legally. I just imported a 696 no dash into the state legally through the SSE exemption. I know an FFL in Socal who can help you, just find the older No lock version you want on a forum or on gunbroker, and LMK
