New model 686

I own a 4 inch and 3 inch barrel Model 686. I just saw the new 2 1/2 inch barrel model on the S&W site. It looks awesome.

2 questions:
- What is the purpose of an unfluted cyclinder
- Is it too big for a pocket carry.

The unfluted cylinder is for added strength, but mostly to add weight.
Yeah, I'd say it's too big for pocket carry unless you have really BIG pockets.
And you'd need a proper holster. I suppose somebody makes one.

I just sold my 2.5" not PC 686, which I believe S&W no longer makes in the 6 shot (since it's not on their site anymore). It is rather large, and perhaps not possible, to pocket carry. I did IWB, and either I'm too skinny, or it's too big. It is a thick beast! I loved mine, but I let her go since I want the 4" more and think I'd rather just do a nice belt holster OWB.
