Got mine. 200 rounds thru it . Flawless and accurate. Like the grips but still playing around with other options. I have the moon clip tools from TK Custom. Makes unloading the clips a breeze. I also have the loader but with these moon clips just using no tool worked fine.
Sights are great and it shot to point of aim with Sig 115 v-crown, Winchester 115 silvertips , S&B 115 fmj, and Federal 115 fmj. Will try some 124 grain stuff at session.
Will post pics later. Really liking it.

it it rated for +P loads or must one stick with standard pressure? The smiths doing 9mm conversions recommend standard pressure only due to case extraction.

From what I understand the 940 no dash had some extraction issues with +P stuff. I shoot Speer 124gr Gold Dot +P out of my 940-1 with no problem. I'm thinking the new version should be the same.

900-950 FPS with a 115gr bullet is a hard pill for me to swallow. I've been a firm believer for some time that 9mm and 357 magnum need at least a 3 inch barrel.

b737lvr, I'd much prefer a 3" or longer barrel on a .357, but ballistics with 9mm in 2"revolver may be a bit more robust than many might assume. Just out of curiosity I've chronographed quite a few 9mm factory loads in my 940-1. Just a couple; the standard pressure Winchester 115 grain white box from Walmart averaged 1088 FS in my 940-1 with 2" barrel. The Federal 9mm 124 grain +P HST averages 1195 FS in the same revolver...

Exchipy, I was never in the right place at the right time to get one of the 3" 940s, I believe there were relatively fewer of those produced. Pretty neat revolvers I think..

Any bullet speed advantage (likely not enough to matter) is not the real benefit of the 3" (actually a full 3 inches) J-Frame barrel over the far more common 2" (actually 1-7/8") barrel; the real advantage is in its improved shoot-ability (pointing and balance). The 3" J-Frame conceals just as well as a 2" in a belt or shoulder holster, though not so well for pocket or ankle holster carry, not to mention the trendy AIWB nut-buster carry.

But, be prepared to pay a premium for a 3", as they tend to be 'spensive and hard to find, even the .38SPLs. Or, you could simply make your own, like this one (made by re-contouring an unneeded M60-4 barrel for installation on a M640 frame):

A few hundred rounds through my 940-3, and extremely happy, This will definitely be in the carry rotation as soon as I figure out a holster or two.

I am new to revolvers, and coming off a lifetime of SA/DAs and striker semi-autos, thought the out-of-box trigger was... not bad. Even better after a few days of spare time/muted conference call dry firing against snap caps and a mid-cycle deep-clean of the light oil that it came with and a re-lube. I had thought about getting a spring kit, but at this point, am pretty happy with the factory weight.

Sights were one of the things that kept me away from the thought of buying a snubbie, but these are fantastic for the purpose, with the black u-notch rear showing the perfect amount of light and the nice and bright tritium front. Within 100 rounds, I was able to get fist-sized 10m groups slow fire with ammo that has 100% function (S&B 115 grain JHP and 100 grain SCHP), and know the rest is practice.

Something that strikes me as odd is that while everything but +P drops free (and that only needs a light tap), I am getting ignition failures with stuff that functions perfectly out of everything else that I own, including Norma MHP, Gold Dot +P, and various FMJ Fiocchi rounds. All have what look like well-struck primers and almost all fire on second strike. Not particularly concerned since I have carry rounds that work well, but it seems like opposite-world to have this happen with a revolver and not my semis. Is this common, and is there any fix? I saw that TK has an extended firing pin for other J-frames, but it does not look like anyone makes one for the 940.

Grips felt great... until I started shooting. The sharp edge at the trigger guard (pic below) starts tearing up my middle finger after 20 rounds.; combined with the huge gap, I'm not sure what VZ was thinking. I think that a little more space between the backstrap and the trigger would be helpful anyway, and am looking at options with that coverage. Are the grips that come on the Lipsey's this bad? Have not seen other complaints, so maybe it's just me.

BTW, second post on the forum, and really appreciate the knowledge and expertise being shared here. Trying to restrain myself, but already looking at alloy J-frames to add to the stable--probably just a matter of time.

Judging by my 642UC and 442UC, the VZ grips just aren't all that tight around the trigger guard. It doesn't bother me. However, I've got skinny fingers and can see how it could be an issue for someone with thicker fingers.

Ha--never thought of them as being *that* thick, but here's the visual:

Thanks. That gap does look smaller; may keep them on the short list.
