A search has revealed that trials and tribulations await the 1st time field stripper of the 952.

Are there any advantages to shooting a few hundred rounds before field stripping, or should it be done to lube the gun before firing it?

Lastly, does anyone have any tips to embellish the somewhat disappointing instructions that came with the gun?

Have a lot of patience the first time you try to get the barrel to go back into the bushing and DO NOT force it. The clearance tolerance is about one thousandth of an inch or less between ID of the bushing and OD of the barrel.
The levers in the rear of the frame are somewhat different to deal with, make certain you aren't depressing the grip safety while trying to get the slide back on.

Thank you. I managed to strip and reassemble it last night. I had to spend some time positioning the bushing to accept the barrel at the angle of entry.

I was confused about the "levers." I realize now that one of them is simply the ejector. do you know what the other one is?

The above leads me to my next question which is whether an exploded view with parts list of the 952 is available.

Thank you.

I haven't had mine apart for awhile. I mostly shoot my 629/29 revolvers and 1911's.
One lever (I think the one on the right) is probably to move a firing pin safety. The other may be the ejector, I don't remember. I have this bad habit of buying a gun, shooting it a few times and then forgeting all about it.

Wow, are you shooting 44 magnum or 44 special? I've got a Desert Eagle chambered in 44 magnum. With the gas action of the rather heavy gun it's kind of fun. I would expect shooting 44 magnum rounds from a 629/29 to be a little punishing.

I have some 44 specials also, a 24-3. -4 & -5 but I shoot 44 mag in the 29/629's and go through a bunch of it. Most of them are 6" or longer and most have a full underlug which certainly helps on th recoil end. I also dress them in Herrett's Jordan Troopers which distributes the recoil well in my hand. There's also some Rugers and a Freedom Arms in 44 as well as an Anaconda out there on lay-awake.
I think my favorite is a 6" power port.
