My gun range just received 2 new full size 4-1/2 M&Ps in 9mm today. These new models come stock with night sights and, best of all, the Shield trigger!!!! Bought a Shield the day they came out on April 12th and just love the trigger.

The night sights are apparently the same as on the 4-1/2" Pro model, which are fine for me. One of these has my name on it - should pick it up next week!

I knew they were going to put the Shield trigger in the FS some day, but didn't know it was happening now!!! I don't know of other models - .40 cal, .45 cal, compact, .357 Sig, etc but would assume they are either available now or "soon".

Hmmm... I wonder if Smith & Wesson put one in my 40c. I plan on sending it in for night sights.

I wonder if they will make factory upgrades available so that the new trigger can be installed in the previous versions of the M&P.

I have "heard" that the new trigger is being incorporated into .45s first and then the rest of the line-up. I thought night sights were always an option...and not standard. Maybe the distributor had a few with that option.

My new M&P will be here Monday. How would an uneducated newby know if they were lucky enough to get one?

I stopped by the range first thing this morning to check out the new M&P. In addition to the night sights and Shield trigger, it also comes with 3 magazines instead of the usual 2. A nice addition.

As far as the trigger goes, the takeup and trigger break felt identical to my Shield. The reset was about the same length, but not quite as definite as in the Shield. Difference may have been Shield has 1500 rounds through it, but maybe not. In any case, the new trigger is to me a huge upgrade over the stock trigger and means I probably won't be looking at Apex parts.

Good to hear that they've made the switch!
@ Tommato: What's the Test Fire date on your spent cartridge?

Hopefully, any New pistol made after Tommato's test fire date will have the new trigger. This is also figuring that they're not using both styles of trigger on the production line.

I'll be picking it up next week. Unfortunately, I didn't think to check the spent case date, and that would have helped. When I pick it up, I'll report back on the date.

Wow that really annoys me off actually I wish S&W would of said something about this
because I literally just bought my M&P 9 a week ago....
Maybe if I call they will let me send in my gun especially
if it's still the same price with these new additions.

How do you know, and what's the difference?

Yes, how do you know it's a new trigger? Why is from the Shield? Does it have a different sear?, how about the Striker block?, does it have lighter trigger weight? How many pounds? Can you give us more info? M&Ps come with optional night sights since the beginning, nothing new.

If you check the SKU on the M&P 9s you saw, I am guessing that the first number is a "3" which often signifies an LE package (night sights and 3 magazines), whereas an SKU beginning with a "2" signifies a "standard capacity" magazine (greater than 10 rounds - 17 rounds in 9mm), whereas an SKU beginning with a "1" signifies a low capacity magazine (10 rounds or less).

The SKU on my 9c is 15095A and it came with 1 12 round and 1 17 round mag. The 17 round has an X-grip extender.
