Evening gentleman, this is my first post. I have had this for awhile that I inherited from my wifes father, who was LEO from the 50s thru the late 70s. Coupe of years back to it to my local gunsmith had it completely stripped and cleaned. This has been a joy to shoot at the local range, which i receive a lot of compliments on it. It does look better than this older pic, any how I believe it is a 4 screw Model 15? , adjustable sights , no model # on yoke, but has a Serial # on the butt K 273xxx, and it has a 4 in barrel hope this is enough info and thanks in advance.

Is it stamped 'Mod 15' in the yoke? If not, then it's a pre-model 15 from 1959-1960. I have a pre-model 14 4-screw that I inherited too.

Yep, looks like a K-38 Combat Masterpiece, dating to 1956. They went to model numbers in 1957, about the time they dropped the 4th screw. You have a fine shootin' iron there, but you already know that. ;)

Here is one made very close to the same time as yours.
It is number K 267469. Great guns.

On my list, I have one with a slightly lower SN, K272xxx, which shipped from the factory on 1/9/1957. This would be a pre-Model 15.
K266,155 – K288,988...1956 (manufacturing)

Welcome to the FORUM! Pre's and 15's are good guns. I do not have 1, but own a 67 no dash. Is the same gun as a 15, but stainless. A pleasure to shoot! Enjoy your Smith! Bob

Thanks for the info guys! I appreciate it very much, my wife mentioned about having it refinished, but just my opinion I thought it would take away some of the history from the gun since it is still in great shape. If my grandson would like it refinished when I pass it down to him when he gets old enough that's his choice. ......thanks again !

I agree DWalt, it will stay original and I might just keep the grips that are on it. Just for the history in our family, but it is a sweet shootin revolver. Thanks again everyone for the info !!! Dig
