New PC Sheild Plus 4" - where to get alternate slide and barrel

Hey folks,

I picked up a new 4" PC Ported Shield Plus last weekend, sku 13253.

I really wanted it in 3.1" but didn't want the thumb safety which is the only option in 3.1". Figured no big deal, I'd so what I did with my M&P 9's and get an alternate PC ported slide, assuming S&W sells them or the parts like they did 4 years ago or so.

Stupidly I didn't check first, and on checking they sub everything out to resellers. No more PC kits (I know, talk about out of touch lol).

I got the slide and barrel part numbers from S&W, called midway and brownells, no luck and guess they don't special order any longer.

Anyone have suggestions for where to get the 3.1" PC ported Shield Plus upper other than hoping for one to show up on GB or eBay?

Wanting to avoid buying an entire gun for the slide to toss the lower with safety.

You can buy Shield 1.0 and 2.0 barrels. You will not find a new Shield Plus barrel. I have been looking for one for a year - as I have a ported 3.1" Shield Plus, and I would like to have a non ported barrel.

There was a gun store parting them out on ebay. I bought one, and it did NOT look new. They claimed it was. They then changed the description to "blem."

But, what they sent me did not look new at all.

You CAN buy an aftermarket barrel. And, a 1.0 barrel will work in the Shield Plus. I tried one for a few rounds. But, I'd like to find an actual Shield Plus barrel.

S&W will NOT sell a barrel for the gun directly. I asked.

However - I have a 4" non ported Performance Center Shield Plus. And wow, is it accurate. So, be happy with what you have.

I bought two different guns to have the two different sizes... Actually, I even picked up a 3rd, non Perf Center one... So, I have 3 now...

Problem is I only want the ported 3.1

I know the non ported standards would fit, just interested. Its really too bad since they give those @ $299 and that's before the $75 rebate. $225 for a complete slide would be great....it it only had the holes...

I may end up doing that just because its too cheap to pass up and you get spare parts and mags.

I am waiting to hear back from another one of the resellers to see if they can get a bid from Smith. Was hoping someone here could give me a lead with a vendor that sourced from Smith now that Smith is out of direct sales.

You should have ordered one from an online vendor then. I bought my two Perf Center Shield Pluses from Kentucky Gun Company.

This is the second thread inside ten days about Smith not selling piece parts. Seems to me that building Franken M&Ps is going to be an expensive business involving multiple guns.

Love S&W but they suck

Sorry asking experience with vendors is drawing ire. I scanned that link, pretty different imo. Not sure why asking about experience trying to buy specific items from S&W suggested vendor list is being read as blasting S&W for a changing business model when I didn't, but apparently that one left some sensitively and have folks reading things in. I took responsibility for being unaware in the background before stating what I was hoping to accomplish without knocking S&W.

Not sure a 13254 sans safety would be a frankengun being essentially identical outside length otherwise, but I maybe technically accurate not currently being in the catalog. Definitely looking like that alternate side is likely to run $600 and come with mags, a case, and a spare frame

Again sorry to ask. I was going to post here if Midwest has any luck with their inquiry to S&W and the pricing. Hopefully that doesn't agitate anyone as encouraging frowned on behavior.

Hey folks, circling back on this. As any either alluded to or might have guessed, not way to get the slide parts. Struck out with all parts distributors and Brownell's claimed they no longer do special orders.

So I ended up buying another 3.1" Ported PC Shield Plus just for its slide. Justified with a rebate and extra mags. Backup frame parts are not a bck thing either
