I have been enjoying reloading for and shooting my S&W Model Model 10 - 7 that I bought new in 1982 ,so much lately, that I wanted a “target “ revolver. After studying the S&W website and talking with the folks at my LGS I decided the PC 686 Plus 5 inch would work for me. The trigger is really nice both single and double action . You can “stage”the trigger in double action if you want or “roll the trigger “ it’s designed for either. Love this new revolver.

Very nice. I have always liked the look of an unfluted cylinder. Enjoy your new gun.

I really like the looks of the 686 PC! Congrats! I'm close, 686 Pro Series. I too like the trigger feel and everything about it. Bob

You have a nice looking 686 Pro 😍👍, I like it.
They do have nice triggers, don't they .!!
Thank you for looking at my new one and your comments.

I'm close too... I prefer the older version, but understand the appeal of the current offering... it is as close as S&W gets to a half lug 686 offering.. they have done them, but not lately.

I bought one just like yours, NIB. First time out it failed to fire. Light primer strikes. I sent it back to S&W. To their credit it was returned to me in less than three weeks. It became one of my "Go To's" for range trips. I really like the trigger and especially like the sight picture with that tall orange front sight. It is a very accurate gun, when I do my part right.

A lot of S&W enthusiasts prefer the older models which I understand. No trigger lock and very high manufacturing quality and quality control.
One feature I really appreciate on my new one is the really bright orange plastic front sight that is a lot brighter than any fiber optic pipe sight that I have on any of my other pistols. So easy for my old eyes to see and get a good sight picture.
I like the one you show in your second picture.
Thanks for looking and replying.

Sorry to see you had trouble with yours and had to return it to S&W . But they did take care of it for you. Glad to see you are really enjoying it . I totally agree with you regarding the trigger and that large orange front sight that is so easy to see for my old eyes.

One of the first things I did to my 686+PC gun was put a red dot on it. I wear bifocals when I shoot, and most other times too. And I've found that it's easier for me to shoot with red dots on em.

It started out with a vortex Venom and Raptor mount. But kept this Nikon p- tactical spur on it with a Raptor mount- no longer made.

What I really like about that revolver is its resemblance to the most beuatiful handgun ever made - the Remington 1875!

Yes, yes, my opinion, YMMV always, but I have yet to see any handgun that pleases my eyes more than an 1875 Remington. I have some gorgeous handguns but none can beat the 1875. IMHO of course. Good job by the S&W PC - gorgeous revolver!

The easiest way to show you the comparison is by using a modern replica:

1875 Outlaw 5.5" 9Mm All Blued | Taylor's & Co.

I have a 986; here is a generic photo of one. It is similar to your 686 except that it is a 9mm and uses moon clips.
