No youngsters here.... only us seniors will enjoy this nostalgia.

It looks like some insects had a nice meal over the years.

Cousin Bruce was probably one of the most popular dj's of the '60s.

I also have a copy of the WABC Silver Dollar Survey....
the top 20 hits of the week.

Grew up in northern New Jersey listening to Cousin Bruce on AM radio, then when I got a little older and my tastes turned more FM, it was late nights with Alison Steele (the Nightbird) on WNEW.

We could catch him once in a while late at night in NC on AM radio when I was in high school. That was when most of the AM stations went off the air at sundown so the ones left didn't have that much interference. I think he was in Nashville then. "Solid Gold Soul in Nashville, Tennessee." Wasn't he the one who could do a 5 minute newscast in 30 seconds?

WOW! What a great souvenir you have from the days of Top 40 AM Radio!! I'm from Brooklyn and grew up with WABC with Cousin Brucie and Big Dan Ingraham and all the loonies on the air at that time. Thanks for sharing that great personal note fron Cousin Bruce.

Used to listen late at night when I was supposed to be asleep. Lived on Long Island.

Used to be able to pick up a station from Little Rock Arkansas but can not think of them name right now. What was it??

Think it was KAAY Beaker Street underground radio

Yeh, that was a while ago when NEW was still the best station in NYC. I remember thinking to myself on my weekend run up from Norfolk that I wasn't home until until I hit exit 7 on the turnpike and could pick up Carol Miller.

KAAY was choice in the '50s and '60s I recall Rob Robins and Doc Holliday.

WLS Chicago and WNOE New Orleans.

Dick Biondi I think was WLS but not sure of it or the spelling. Too much grey matter gone.

WIL and KXOK were the top 40 stations in St. Louis during the sixties. I really missed them when I was sent to E. Africa in '66. One of my barracks mates had his Mom tape several hours of WABC. I don't remember who the DJs were but I remember thinking that NY DJs sounded just like the guys in St. Louis. Made me feel a little more at home. :)

Edit: Do any of you east coast guys remember Ron Lundy? He DJ'd here at WIL before moving on to WABC in NYC.

Well, I certainly remember Cousin Bruce, but I started off with a crystal radio I made in shop class and all I got was WNJR in Newark (reasonable, considering that I was two blocks from Newark). Not a bad station to listen to, as it was heavily weighted towards Black performers. It probably billed itself as R&B, but in retrospect, I would say that it probably played more artists who would appear in a general history of R&R. Definitely wasn't lacking in Black representation, though.
