New policy at Cabelas

Because of high local prices and low local selection I buy my ammo online. With my Cabelas VISA card I get 1% cash back and I use it when I find ammo at a reasonable price and $5.00 shipping.

About 40 years ago, in Phoenix ,AZ there was a suicide by circular saw in a pawn shop.
A guy came in and asked to plug in the saw to make sure it would run. He then proceeded to cut his own throat, nearly severing his head.

I bought some winter clothes from Cabela's 20 years ago that I still use and I have 3 of their hats (That I probably bought at Goodwill) but I don't think I've actually shopped at Cabela's in 20 years and I've certainly never bought a gun from them.

If they closed tomorrow I don't think I'd even notice

The policy to keep a trigger lock on any firearm and not allowing a customer to try the action would be like a car dealer that not only doesn't allow you to test drive the car, they won't even open up the car for you to sit in it.

I visited a Bass Pro years ago and they already had this policy. Now that they've bought Cabelas that policy seems to have spread. You can find good ammo deals at Cabelas occasionally but their pricing on firearms borders on ridiculous. I once saw a used Hi Point 9mm priced higher than a NIB Hi Point they had for sale.

Not Cabela's, not Missouri . . .

Although Missouri and Kansas both enjoy constitutional carry, I can assure you that since William Quantrill and August of 1863, residents of either state take great umbrage with being confused with the other . . .

Two errors does qualify as "multiple" so I stand corrected.

Things must have changed in that part of the country since the days when I grew up there.
I never knew of any such animosity between the residents of MO and KS. The worst I knew of was the rivalry between the Cards and the Royals...

All firearms must have a trigger lock on them, new or used . Said lock will remain on trigger until it is bought and boxed for the buyer .This means you will be unable to check the action before you take it home ,they are also stating that all used guns bought as is NO return ,without any implied warranty , Who will buy with these conditions ?
I think that upper management should be informed of the results of this action

if I cannot kick the tires before I buy it, I do not want it. I suppose they want to do this in their gun library on a $ 10K used K-80? Does not bother me, I would not buy a gun from them anyway. I stay clear of them and Bass pro. Everything they sell is camo, or makes you look like a tree. Support your LGS where possible IMO

Well, I'll apologize for the Cabela's clerk who said a "STORE " in Missouri.

If anyone was offended by my repeating what was said by a second party I also deeply apologize.

I was simply trying to answer why they were installing trigger locks to all the guns in the store, as it was said to me.

Anybody that wants to sell me a bumper sticker for 5.00 so I can drive around and advertise for them is a place to stay away from. people buy em though. Or hats that say Cabelas on them. The fudge is good though, and probably the best deal in there

Clearly, you're not a college sports fan. The basketball and football animosity during the days of the Big 8 and then the Big 12 ran deep, and still does. Norm Stewart, the legendary Mizzou basketball coach, never let the university spend a dime in Kansas during away games. The players packed in food, the bus didn't buy fuel, and after the game, the team drove back to Missouri to spend the night. His directions to Lawrence: Head west from Kansas City, and turn left at the first tree . . .

AHHH, I see. You're referring to the sports obsessed crowd. I think you already know what I think on that topic, and you are correct, I don't hang with that type, so their bickering would be something I never participated in, cared about, or even noticed.

From your reference to Lawrence I thought you were talking about something more substantial.

May the poor suicidal person rest in peace having found salvation through God's grace and may God be with his family and friends, as well as anyone at that store.

Thanks for the info on Cabela's - I'll watch this thread to see what happens with regard to this policy.

Was in Cabelas this afternoon to pick up some dove shells. Saw numerous locks on guns! Store in total disarray changing over to a more BPS look. So sad. Cabelas always above all the others. No more.

Maybe he meant Mississippi, or Minnesota. Or maybe Michigan. One of those "M" states.

I'm sure he said it, and he may have heard it from somebody official with a Cabela's name tag on his/her shirt, but "Nope . . . "

There is only one Cabela's in Missouri, and The St. Louis Post Dispatch has not reported a shooting at Cabela's. Since the Cabela's here is in a dying mall in a crime ridden area of north St. Louis County, this would have been big news . . .

I believe I referenced something more substantial about Lawrence earlier in this thread . . .

Yes, that is what I was referring to.

In one post you referenced Lawrence indicating that the events in 1863 were the source of the animus, then in another post you said it was about something as current and trivial as sports rivalries.
