New primer prices

Tonight I checked Powder Valley . They don't have any primers but did show that if they had primers , they would be $50-$55 / thousand . I sincerely hope that is not what's coming ? Regards Paul

It seems like I remember a primer shortage way back in the 90's, I believe. I can't recall the reason, but I knew a few fellows who bought many more than they would ever need and after the scare, they tried to sell the primers for what they paid for them. They had no luck. Can someone refresh my memory as to what caused that shortage and when it was.

Can't remember when but I remember guys trying to sell really old primers and that they were unreliable. That added even more to guys not being able to sell for what they paid. But we are talking about the same thing. And the stock pile of primers by folks and then not being able to use or sell them.

Kind of like the TP thing last year. Guess folks used all that TP for something.

setting market prices. Take a look at some hot housing markets around the country. Are those "greedy sellers" pushing prices far above original listing price? Nope, it is buyers making those offers to attempt to acquire a scarce commodity where demand is exceeding available supply.

My son was informed that his job was changed and he had to relocate. Sad story, but whatever.

Last year he had refinanced so he had a recent appraisal. His friend, a real estate agent, told him to highball the price.

The original listing was $200,000 above the last appraisal. The house sold the 2nd day after a bidding war. He got $60,000 above the listing price. He did it all himself, so no real estate commission.

Sure don't want to be a buyer these days....

Today at the Big Reno Show, I saw primers ranging from $125 to $300 per 1000. From what little I paid attention to ammo prices it looked to be going for $.80 to $2+ a round for common rifle and pistol ammo. Every table had at least a few boxes of ammo; looked like sellers raided their personal cache. There was 4 large ammo vendors, which attracted 90% of attendees; the isles were empty.

Why? He paid his fee to set up. He can ask anything he wants for his products- you don't have to buy it.
Never thought I'd see so many "Pro-2A" people whine like little snowflake socialists.

Agreed. One simple rule to follow....price too high, don't buy.

Too many people have paid little attention to what the anti-2nd crowd has been up to in the last 40+ years. They have not yet learned to stock up on reloading supplies or ammunition when the demand is low and the prices are reasonable. Of course it's not their fault (sarc.), so they blame people who have paid attention and are willing to sell their goods at a price that the unprepared people are WILLING to pay.

So sad that they demand people sell their goods at the prices they paid to sleepy people who had no foresight. Scary that so many people have a socialist's mindset and don't even know it.

I don't know for sure, but is it possible that the mfgrs are charging the distributors more, they in turn charge the LGS more based on volume and the LGS has no option but to charge those prices or close their doors. I don't know if the LGS is making that much more profit. Let's look at the mfgrs and distributors gouging and the LGS making a product available to someone that wants it.
Just saying

Would it be the recent creation date that would indicate they may not be established. Kinda, like having to have x number of posts to list something for sale ?

Boxes of Gold

Weekend purchase; again at my secret undisclosed Local Gun Shop
that has CCI primers brick (10/100ct boxes) for
$28.99+$1.88tax= $30.87.

I'm done buying Primers for awhile. I think I have enough LP, LR,
SR, and Magnum primers for this 4 year cycle.

Stopped at the farm store on my way home from work. They had 200 round boxes of 223 for $129.99/box. Saw a guy buying 2 boxes. So glad I reload and thought to buy primers.

I'm getting tired of driving around to all the shops around here. I work during the day so midweek trips are out of the question. I talked to a counter-guy at a local big-box sporting goods store and they see the same 5-10 guys every morning buying every brick that comes in....One brick at a time. I don't stand a chance.

Online? Me and everyone else is on some sort of waiting/notification list.

I may need to find a different hobby.

I went to my favorite LGS after work today and they had 75? 80K fresh CCI SPP just in. My name was on their call list so I was able to pick up my share (3K) @ $39.50 per 1000, pretty much their standard price even before the panic.

I could flip it right now for 4X what I paid but who knows when the next batch will show up, and at what price, so I'll just add them to the stash and not worry about components for the next few months.

Did I mention they are my favorite LGS?

If I had to take a stab, it was either who got into the White House or post passing of the 1994 AWB...
