Regardless of whether this is a practical gun, I enjoyed shooting my buddy's governor so much I needed to buy one. Ridiculously fun.

I've also developed a respect for 000 buckshot up to 15 yards. The pattern is absolutely respectable and I would definitely never want to be on the receiving end of it. I will say his has issues with 45 Colt tumbling, we'll see if this has the same. Probably just ammo specific.

Probably won't use it for CCW ever but it's a hell of a fun gun!

Yep. That's how I feel about my.500. I'll never carry it CCW and it would make a terrible home defense gun. The only practical need would be if I went on an adventure in bear country. But, it's so fun to shoot and just knowing you have the biggest is a thrill added to the fun. Many don't understand but I don't care. Shoot your Governor it's a much better tool that the Judge it was modeled after and smile a lot as I do.

Sometimes it just being fun is what makes it worth it!

Although I don't own a Governor (yet!), I think that they are a really neat revolver with several options for ammo and usage. It is pricier than the Taurus Judge, but it handles .45 ACP whereas the Judge does not. My son manages several gun stores/ranges in Florida, and he often carries a Judge OWB while working. IMO, the Governor is an excellent choice for home defense, travel, and walks in the outdoors. Good choice, enjoy!

Nice Governor....and despite critics saying that the Governor is a 'gimmick' that couldn't hit the side of a barn from 10 ft away, they're nice revolvers to have for woods and HD. And for those reasons they are popular and still in production. I foolishly sold mine to a good friend.

Best option available for doing double duty around the ranch. Can kill skunks with it at 15 yards with birdshot, and rattlesnakes or anything else in the nuisance category, the 45 Colt is good for finishing the occasional pig. And it is light enough to carry all day and hardly notice it is there. I've tried most everything else for this "double duty" purpose and the Governor is best. I suppose it would be ok for defense against two legged vermin too although it wouldn't be my first choice for that.

So, does anyone know if the Governor will chamber all .410's or are they ammo finicky. My buddy has had two of the Judges, neither of which would reliably accept various .410 shells. Both were returned to the factory for issues, and both came back with the same problem. I know Taurus doesn't have a stellar rep for reliability but this seemed like something that should NOT be an issue. Does the Govrun them all or is it ammo finicky as well?

I can say that it absolutely does not like RIO shells. Would never try and use it in anyone's. The brass is horrible and expanded so much that I had to beat the cylinder open ti extract them with a screwdriver. Rendered the weapon INOP instantly.

Lesson learned, I'm sticking to 410 developed for handguns exclusively from now on.

I've heard bad things about Rio. How about Winchester or Remington conventional shot shells?

Happy to say that the hornady triple defense extracts perfectly. Looking forward to shooting some federal personal defense 000 buck out of it next.

The hornady spread was what I would consider acceptable IMO at around 10-15 yards. I'm hoping the federal stays a little tighter a little farther
