New revolvers without IL?

If this is true, it's about time.

I'll take two of the lock free 19's.

Regards 18DAI.

I ordered a M60-10 from CDNN two weeks ago. I received a new M60-10 3" no lock W/box and so forth. The serial # is the DAF series which is current, the enclosed fired shell was dated July 2008. This is the hi-viz FT. and plain black adj. rear. This is not a trade in, it's a new gun.
I have no idea where this gun has been since it was made if it was not made recently the SMI 102434 is from 1996. I have been moaning about a no lock 3" and here it is!

S&W comes through again.

Any ideas whwt S&W will do with the existing lock guns? They will be difficult to sell if the no-locks are again available. Could be a "fire sale" coming!! You can buy the lock-guns and just modify the lock and, presto, a new gun for dirt cheap price.

Just an idea. Mayb, huh?

John

I will take some of the lock guns at bargain basement prices, I will be making my list. The only ones I am interested in are range guns and I have a couple that are great guns.

You know, even though the CS rep told me this, I seriously doubt they will do this. They are so concerned with selling their revolvers in all states that the Maryland's of this world are causing the rest of us to endure the IL. But, we can only hope she heard correctly. I do know that their marketing department was surprised at how briskly the no locks just introduced sold. Now, if they can be convinced, and convince senior management, perhaps we can have a lock optional variation ... and let those in states that require the IL buy the IL, and let the rest of us in free states opt for the no lock version.

I think the shot show will be interesting. They just introduced a new Model 14 Classic ... but low and behold it has the lock.

If the change happens, it might be later in the year and not necessarily unveiled at the Shot Show. But, it is apparent that they are aware of how their IL has hurt their overall sales.

I guess the pressure from the buying public, fueled by this forum, is having its desired financial impact.

We shall see ... but I remain skeptical.

If this "IL option" chatter is correct, S&W is probably low in "finished" goods with the IL.

Should be an interesting 2009 "SHOT" trade show in Orlando this coming January 15th.

S&W did confirm to me that the recent no IL lock versions were using up existing inventory that did not have the lock on them. Marketing was surprised, as I stated in another post, by how brisk the sales were for these particular models as compared to Il versions!

So then, the recent no-lock versions of the 642 and 442 are "existing inventory"?
Where have they been hiding those hundreds, if not thousands, of frames?

Mike,

I have no clue where they have been hiding ... just merely reporting what they told me. I guess we would be surprised if we all really knew what went on behind those closed doors!

I agree with you DocAlamo, that the lock has hurt S&W.

I'm surprised that the usual suspects have not showed up to insist that a few old traditionalists not buying wind up guns, makes no difference to S&W.

But it's early yet

If you want the "NO IL" option...

Send a FAX to: S&W Senior VP...Leland Nichols at
413-747-3317 fax#.

Tell him of your interests in this "NO IL" option.

These faxes do have an impact!!!

I am composing the fax as we speak. Thanks for the name. We shall see. Perhaps the timing is ripe for a barage of faxes.

I don't know why Marketing would be surprised at brisk sales for no lock guns. If they had an education worth a **** in Marketing, all they had to do was read this Forum and realize how much they were hated by the majority of the members, and they will KNOW why no IL guns sell so well. So much for them paying attention to the consumer. Kinda makes 'em look stupid to me.

From my very positive experience with S&W customer service, they have to have good to great up and down communications. They notice the 642-1, 37-2, and 442 no-lock sales spile.

This should increase business.
