Hello, recent purchase of new SR9. I disassembled it to clean for first time and it was very dry,no oil noted is this normal for ruger? Much different than the S&W that was overly oiled from factory. I noticed a "nick" in barrel. I have not fired it yet. This was not caused by me. I doubt it was caused by the LGS but you never know. I wanted to know if this is a problem should I should be concerned with (firing and function). It seems to slide fine. I dont care what is looks like just function. Send barrel to Ruger? or whole gun so they can check out entire thing. it's not just a scuff. I trust the people on this forum and their expertise with all makes of firearms that"s why I'm asking here. I still love S&W.:)

I can't see anything via the iPhone, it's probably nothing to worry about. I have owned an SR9 for two or three years and have had zero malfunctions after 3000 rounds, most being reloads.

The trigger on mine was vastly improved with the installation of a 'ghost ultimate trigger bar'.

I would oil it up and shoot the heck out of it.

Enjoy.

in the first picture I can barely see a small dot of a mark, if this is the problem in question, try taking another look at it but this time slightly roll the barrel one way or the other to get the reflection line to bisect the mark, if the line of light has a large bend in it, then I would think there is a problem. That would indicate a deformation of the barrel.

i dont think you have a problem other than cosmetic, but I am only looking at a small picture.

Barrels are very strong, they have to be. I dont think there is a procedure on the assembly line that would have that kind of force go unnoticed. I have several Ruger products, including the SR9, they make good stuff.
