New Shield 9 owner

Finally got my M&P 9 Shield after wanting one for months now. I sold my Taurus PT111 and now I have it. Just gotta throw some rounds down range this week. It feels great in the hand and so much slimmer and lighter than the taurus. Feels almost as light as my sig p238.

Is the trigger swap a significant improvement? I've read some say yes then some seem to not have a problem with it.

IMO yes, the trigger alone reduces over travel and eliminates the weird hinge mechanism. The bigger difference is when you install the apex trigger kit (apex sear and striker block). It is not necessary or mandatory just personal preference.

Congratulations on your new Shield. I know a few locals who carry the Shield and love 'em.

I ordered a 9mm Shield and should be receiving it tomorrow. I plan on detail cleaning it before heading out to the range. I plan on firing several hundred rounds before considering any changes.

Love my Shield9. My new favorite carry gun. No major mods except a Pierce Pinky extension for the 7-round mag and I blacked out the rear white dots and painted the front white dot with orange photoluminescent paint. Makes for super quick and easy front sight pickup. Shoots great. A little over 400 rounds and no problems.

That is a fun gun. And a good shooter. The trigger is the best out of all my DAOs.

Since getting my shield 9 it has replaced my p238 sig as every day carry. It's almost as light and I like the idea of 9mm vs 380 for any situation that might pop up.

My shield takes a lot of force to the mag to seat it till it clicks. My son has the same problem with his. I have tried removing 1 round and the spacer on the 8 rd mag but with the same result. The 7 rd is also hard to seat.When the slide is locked back it is easy to seat. Does anyone have the same problem as I do ? And if so have you come up with a solution?
