Hello and this may be my 1st post I can't remember... been reading here for a while now.

with any luck my new shield 9 will be out of MD wait period jail today and I can bring it home. may even get some range time in today or tomorrow. was debating between the LC9 and the Shield 9, came down to me liking my bodyguard 380 but wanting something a little larger, so went with the shield. Not sure how I feel about the hinged trigger yet, it's something new for me, but I see I have options for that if it becomes a problem.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the good information here.

I got my 9 Shield last Fall. Totally happy with it's look, feel, flatness, easy of carry and operation. I'm "stuck" with the BladeTech holster because I have the CTC Green Laserguard sight and that's the only uncustomized holster available. I would like a belt holster but none so far. I would suggest cleaning the "travel" or storage lube out of the gun and bore before shooting. On reassemble be careful of proper placement of the return spring. Also there is a little lever inside that has to be pressed down for disassemble so you don't have to dry fire the pistol Just check the manual for all these instructions. The "hinged" trigger is a safety obviously like the Glock. Seems to work fine due to the reality of the striker-fired design. Glad you skipped the LC9.

I don't think you'll notice the "hinge" aspect at all.
A friend of mine has the LC9 and hates it! Another person I know has one as well and has never even fired it! Their first weapon.
I've got a Shield 9mm and a Sig P238. So far I like em both. A bit over 200 rounds through each of them with NO malfunctions of any kind.
Like Mal Cap said though however, strip it down, clean it up and get some lube in there before that first trip out.
Have fun and be safe!

Good choice and congrats. Carry mine in iwb holster.

Try DARA Holsters

I love my shield. I have a couple of Glock's and don't notice the shield trigger at all. There is a holster for the shield with green Crimson trace laser guard.

Stealthgearusa. Onyx I believe is the model. It's a little pricey. But very nice.

Congratulations, one of the finest single stack 9mm for the money, period .
Using a Blackhawk A.r.c appendix carry holster. Looove it!

Great choice for a single stack. And you its better than the Ruger worst trigger I have ever shot.

Shield is better than the Ruger, but not better than a Kahr :)

I was looking at IWB from Aliengear, and the L.A.G. Defender because it's convertible from IWB to OWB, but man, I really like the looks of yours... after checking out stealthgear.com, I think this is the route I will take... thanks for posting, I had no idea they even existed.

Recently bought a Glock 43 and a Shield 9mm. Both are great but I slightly favor the Shield , so I ordered a PC Shield too. But been on back order for weeks.

well THAT was boring (but in a zero-issues, everything-worked-perfectly kinda way) !

life and work got in the way, I finally got to the range at lunchtime today to put the first rounds thru my new shield. shot about 150 rounds of 3 diff brands of ammo, no issues of any kind. I think I mentioned in my 1st post this is the 1st striker fired pistol I own, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's fine, and I may be liking the consistent trigger over DA/SA actions, will see.

I was a little concerned over a firing pin that seemed to be hanging up when I disassembled/cleaned prior to firing, but it was a non-issue. Pretty sure after a thousand more rounds or so everything will settle in and marry up nicely.

I bought an Apex kit for it during my 7 day waiting period, now I think I may have wasted my money on it. Will probably install it anyway since I have it. I prolly feel more grittiness in my old arthritic hands than I felt in the pistol...lol.

thanks for all the advice on this and the other threads. debating now between the Alien and StealthGear iwb holsters for it. Originally I was going with Alien because it's convertible from IWB to OWB, but the breathable backing on the SG Onyx has me strongly considering that one instead.

so far the only thing I am not 100% sold on is the hinky finger extension on the 8 round mag... IMO is should have been a one piece base for it instead of that slip-on affair. not the end of the world.

so far have to say I am very pleased with this thing.
