I got to pickup my Shield 9mm today. So stoked. Fired off about 40 rounds to get the feel of it and then shot the CCW Qualification Course. 350 is passing and I shot 404 at least. This is a great little gun and I am so glad I got it. The head shots were just me goofing off after the qual.

Note: the 3 7s at the top were head shot.

Congrats on getting a great gun. May I suggest the Apex Hard tactical sear for it. It will improve the trigger without getting the whole kit. You may find that you want to get the kit at a later date, but I found that just the sear was enough for me.

What he said! I installed both kits that includes the flat trigger. Shot groups really tightened up after the install. The stock trigger was just to inconsistent in my opinion.

You did well buying the Shield and putting the bullets where it counted.

I liked my Shield 9 so well that I bought a second one to alternate as my daily carry. The only replacements I made was to replace the OEM sights with fiber optics.

The trigger works well in both of my pistols. Regarding accuracy, for short defensive distances, both for point and shoot and sight aiming, these Shields are as accurate as any of my "high priced" 1911's.

I did not find the Shield 40 to be similar. It was mechanically plagued throughout my ownership of it.

My you have years of safety and enjoyment with your Shield.

Attached is a 7 yard target that I printed with double and triple taps from one of my Shield's

Yes on that. I installed just the sear, and polished the trigger bar, striker block, etc.......love the trigger now.

You picked a great little handgun and it looks like you are shooting it well too. I really like mine - it's had several hundred rounds thru it without a single failure.

Hi,

Good shooting! Excuse my ignorance, but how many rounds do you have to shoot to qualify at 350 points? 40, 45, 50?

In Michigan the requirement for me was to place 10 round groups in an 8x10 sheet of paper at 3, 5, 7 and 10 yards. I passed that and then had to break down the gun, reassemble then go at it again. That was with 2 hand grip, and any stance I wanted to use.

20 more rounds were shot at 3 and 5 yards single handed at same size target 8x10 inch. No points were counted. Just had to hit the paper. That was with this particular instructor in my area. Others may have different experiences. I've heard (depending on instructor) different practical requirements.

Thanks for your time, :-)

Wow! Sounds like the qualification regiment for my Dad back in the 60's as a LEO. 6 rounds - 48 rounds total. Again, 6 rounds would match the .38 S&W revolver requirement.

You did not list a reload time frame, so I assume there was none. California really is trying to "infringe" on the right to bear arms.

Thanks for the reply, :-)

Wow, all we had to do here in FL was fire one shot and hit the target. Your class sounds a lot more fun lol

That is having a magazine at the ready or a speed loader if you are firing a revolver. The "Reload" time is part of the total time.
