First time to the range today with the new Shield. Very pleased. No FTFs or FTEs with commercial 115 grain FMJs or handloads of FMJs, HPs and Berry's plated bullets.

It handles recoil very well. I added some Talon grips last week, but I don't think that would affect the perception of recoil. Feels good in the hand, though.

Trigger is nice and crisp, but feels heavy to me. It will shoot where I'm aiming if I'm paying attention to the trigger break. I think I'm a little spoiled because I have a Buckmark .22 with a really nice, light trigger.

Is there any way to lighten the trigger pull without buying Apex triggers (if they make one for the Shield?)?

Takedown and action were very stiff at first, but they're getting easier to work with after manipulating a lot, and especially after some range time.

Very pleased.

Yes, Apex has kits and components for the Shield, though for a carry gun they may be overkill.

I have the Apex kit on my FS M&P9/40, used primarily at the range, but the standard Shield trigger just needed a little polishing, particularly where the trigger bar engages the striker block.

If you're handy with some basic tools, what you might try is just removing the striker block and grinding/polishing it down to conform to the more rounded shape of the Apex Ultimate Striker Block (USB). (There should be a link to a procedure around here somewhere...) This makes the biggest difference for any single change.
