I picked up a new Shield yesterday. I really like this little gun. I was conflicted on getting the shield or the Glock 26, but after handling both I went with the S&W due the feel in my hand and ease of concealing. The Shield pointed more naturally for me.

I hated to give up a little on capacity, but the ease of concealment makes up for it. I have read posts where people don't like the trigger, but it sure beats the LC9 trigger I sold to help finance the Shield.

I took it home and stripped it down to clean it. After examining it I'm convinced it is a lot better built gun than the LC9. I really like the fact that the slide is stainless steel versus carbon steel other makers use.

I can't wait to get her to the range next week.

It is a nice gun, isn't it? Let us know how you do when you visit the range, and post a image of your target :)

I've only had my Shield for about 2 weeks now. I'm off to the range again next wee, too.

I liked my shield 40 so much i went out and bought the 9 shoot them both every weekend about 2000 rds per and not a hiccup with factory or my reloads. I live in Ma. so i had to put an apex carry trigger kit in both mine(ten pound trigger pull law ) thats what happens when liberals run a state. But the both have 5 pound trigger pulls now.

Will do.....

Congrats on the new Shield. I love mine, conceals and shoots great.

I just picked up a Shield in 9mm also. About 200 rounds down the pipe and only 2 fail to feeds. Still breaking in, so not a big deal. I am extremely pleased with it, and it replaced a Sig p229 sas in my daily rotation for carry. Diminished capacity doesn't bother me a bit, because the mags are slim and you can carry more than one reload if you wish. Smith and Wesson really hit a home run with these little guns. My hat's off to them.

I've had mine for a couple weeks and it just seems to get better and better. Only 100 rounds through it but I can see this being my main carry gun. I can't believe how accurate it is even with rapid fire using the stock 7 round mag.

With all these great replies, I'm really encouraged with my decision to buy the Shield over the G26.

I bought the Shield over the 26 and I'm happy with the decision. It felt better in my hand so that was the deciding factor. There is a lot to like about the 26 as well. The shorter grip is nice for concealment, but it is thicker. It just didn't feel good to me. The Shield conceals well anyway.

It shoots nicely as well. This is about 100 rounds at a little over 15 feet practicing defensive shooting, not taking my time to slowly shoot each shot. I would empty a magazine, then swap to the 8 round mag and continue to fire. I love shooting this gun.
