New Shield

I have the glock 26 and it is a nice gun. Got the 40 shield to keep my m&p comp 40 company. Have fun shooting the shield.!:D

You're saying you would choose the conceal ability in the shield over the compact G19? I guess I should just make up my damn mind. I can't buy both at the same time. Maybe the other one down the road. Lol

That's what I did. I went to the LGS last week mind made up to get a G26. Walked out with the Shield. The size, feel, and how well it pointed for me was worth the loss of a few rounds in capacity. I would have liked to buy both, but that was not an option.

I like the Shield so much, if I had the $$$ to go buy another gun tomorrow, I'd have 2 Shields. S&W hit a win with this one.

KMac1574, let us know what you decide.

MailMan, I like the pro model. My LGS didn't have the in stock.

Hey how do u like that holster u have pictured? Its definitely different. Is that something u could get away with carrying up front apendix style at the 1 o'clock position?
Thanks

The wife has owned and carried a GLOCK 26 for years. When I got my Shield 9mm I asked her if she wanted to carry it instead of her G26. She elected to keep her GLOCK.

Her main reason was her ability to work the slide. With a thicker, heavier slide the G26 doesn't need as much spring resistance to dampen 9mm recoil. The Shield's recoil springs seems to stack up in resistance during the last portion of compression while the G26's springs do not. She also likes the wider G26 slide because it is easier for her to grasp during slide manipulation.

The springs and slide width are not an issue for me so I guess I get to keep the thinner, lighter Shield!

Finally got to shoot my new gun yesterday.

I forgot to get any pictures of the target, but it shot really well. I only fired a 100 rounds, but they were flawless. It is a pretty accurate little gun. The sights were easy to see. At 35 feet I had pretty good groups. I didn't try any further as it was raining and I was trying to stay under the shelter.

At 25 feet I tried some double tap drills, and all were COM. At 10 feet I did some pull and shoot drills, and I kept all the shots in the head of the silhouette target. Overall, I am really happy with this gun.

KUBA check out the holster store. The IWB pro carry extreme. You won't be sorry.

Nice choice on the shield C/O

I just picked up a Shield in 9mm also. About 200 rounds down the pipe and only 2 fail to feeds. Still breaking in, so not a big deal. I am extremely pleased with it, and it replaced a Sig p229 sas in my daily rotation for carry. Diminished capacity doesn't bother me a bit, because the mags are slim and you can carry more than one reload if you wish. Smith and Wesson really hit a home run with these little guns. My hat's off to them.
I bought my M&P Shield 9mm back in November 2013 and I will be honest here. I was very disappointed in it. At the time as many others having issues with FTE's I didn't feel it to be reliable enough to have as my carry. As time went on and several hundred rounds through it, finally has broken in and now feel comfortable to carry daily. A couple of the fine features that helped me make my decision to make this my carry was it's feel, being slim easy to carry and accuracy. I do love this as much as I do my Glock 23.

Congrats on the new Shield. I love mine. :D A Hogue Handall Jr. & Pearce Grip mag extenders for the 7 rounders really do the trick. IMO
