new shield

Just bought a new sheild 9mm, really like it, shoots, looks, handles good. I put a pierce mag extension on the seven round mag and that makes it feel great. I have one question, why do the make the springs so heavy in the pistol and magazines, my wife wanted one but she cant operate it. The mags are a pain to load.
Good choice. The only suggestions would be the apex trigger kit that drops the trigger pull to 4.5 pounds and a good set of night sights. Just my .02

There are quite a few Youtube videos showing step-by-step walk-throughs. Watch one (or more) and then see if you're up to it. The hardest part is removing the rear sight.
Before dropping money on a trigger kit though, put a few Hundred rounds through it. It does smooth out.
The Berwell site also has a DIY "M&P Trigger Job" PDF that you could do (without a 'drop-in' kit) in an afternoon. ;)

I'm going to go with everybody else that says rounds down range will probably smooth everything out. When I first got mine, my friend who's been shooting for years called it "snappy." Now he calls it crisp. He was also shocked by the trigger last time out, which was about 500 rounds after our first outing. He said the trigger was much better then his new Kahr CW40, which we were having other difficulties with well. Over all, comparing the two, side by side, the Shield one the day on just about every metric you could possibly use to compare two guns, except caliber.
