Was recently gifted a pair of Minnetonka moosehide shoes. After wearing them around a few days, ordered some sheepskin lined slippers. American company(not American made), wide widths and true to size fitting.....if the wear longevity is good, I'm hooked. Other than outdoor boots, I may never buy another brand of footwear.:)

I've had a pair of Bean double sole mocs since the late 60's, they will out last me.

The Courtney boot co. in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe makes wide boots of Cape buffalo, crocodile, hippo, and maybe other leathers, but no arches.

Mine are buff hide with impala collars. South African dealers and Westley Richards in London sell them, as do a few US safari outfitters.

One US dealer is SCI, charging from $299- about a thousand. I can find the address, or just Search for Courtney's site and read their impressive story. Very well made, judging from mine and my son's.

Of course, the fancy ones are meant mainly to impress at social events like upscale braais or BBQ's. I guess...
