new sights for 1911

hi, I am new to the 1911's been and H & K fan my entire life. So my question, I have a old / new S&W 1911 45 cal with adjustable rear sights, 2 questions. Can they be replaced with fixed ? and if so what brand, if not what sight can I replace the old ones with, hard for me to see, they are just black. I think this is an older model due to the fact is has the small writing on the slide. The gun is in near mint condition and the price was right. Any help would be appreciated.

A fiber optic front will make it easier to acquire the target.
Not sure why you want to ditch the factory adjustable sight?
Plain black rear and fiber optic front are the hot sights in IDPA/USPSA.

You can also get direct replacement fiber optic adjustable rear sights. I don't believe there is a fixed sight replacement for the Bomar rear sight.
