Several years ago, I did the sights on my EDC Smith 642. I used isopropyl alcohol to degrease the sights, and used Testors Model Paint to do the sights. I used several thin coats, with long drying times between coats.
The sights are somewhat protected by an Uncle Mikes pocket holster, so that may explain the longevity
I haven't had to re-do the sights yet.
That worked so well, I also did the sights on my wife's house gun, a 99% Smith Model 10. She LOVES it.
