Just purchased new sigma 9mm from Bass Pro yesterday, got home last night and started giving it the old once over. Can't wait to go out and shoot today! One question: on right hand side just at rear of the trigger guard is a button/latch/something. Don't have a camera to show. Just curious, don't want to do something wrong right out of the gate.

That's just the other end of the magazine catch. Push on the left side to release the magazine and you can see/feel the right side move out and in.

Clean and oil it first! Get all the factory gunk and junk out before shoot today.

Oh yea! Welcome.

txproud, welcome to the forum!

Please give us a range report after you unleash the sigma! ;)

Enjoy!

Listen to J. If you don't clean it before you shoot it, you will not know what you have to modify first. Its very important that you start messing around with how the gun operates while its still new. If you mess around with a gun that is broke in, S&W won't cover lost fingers or hands.

Thanks to all for warm welcome, and answer to question. Did the pre-shoot clean-up, inspection, etc. What a nice shooting pistol! Have to admit, purchased based solely on reviews, this forum, etc, had never held one before going to store, but liked what I read and saw. Dead center (or close anyway) from approx 20 ft first shot. Very nice grouping (I know, it ain't real without pix!). Very comfortable; trigger different feel from other pistol (Taurus PT609), but nothing like I heard. Can't wait to go out again!

Sounds like you're off to a good start with the gun.

The more you shoot it, the better it gets.

Have fun and post often!

Welcome to the Sigma club. You know,if you don't post pics of your gun the S&W Sigma police will come and repo your gun! :D

I'm just guessing it's looking box stock, but what the hay. I'll look anyway.:D

JRich's gun is so shiney that he uses it as a shaving mirror. See his profile pic? That's a picture of the reflection off of his slide!

That's funny.:) But only half true, that's not where that pic came from.:D

Still trying to figure out how to get picture transferred over. Any help?

I went the other way, I bought the SW40VE at a Ma. show and got all the toys for it at basspro...had it for 3 weeks now and 150rds... LOVE IT...
Now I just have to work on accuracy.

3 weeks 150 rounds wow man, are you burn'in the midnight oil or what?

Have you only gone once for 20 min? my first day I got 500 rounds in and then went 3 time a week fore the same # of rounds. The accuracy thing will take some time and ALOT of ammo.
Good luck

LOL, no.
I am just a cheap *** *******. Burning through a box of 50 at a time (and only getting to go once a week) is the best I can do for now. I was hopeing to go for the slow and steady route instead of makeing it a sprint.

After all, as long as I am good hits on a man sized target at ranges bigger then any room in my house, I am happy enough

I suggect to you as I have done. Whe your area has a gun show, Go and bring at leat $100 with you. Last time I went to one in November I could get a box of 500 founds of factory reloads for $89.00. they typically have new ammo for just a little more.
I have only used new ammo in my Sigma 40ve a few times, maybe 200 rounds out of 20,250 or so rounds, never misfired or had a problem. I keep a box of 50 new Winchester HP's for my home defense, or at least they are a base for my own little home defense recipe rounds. I load inside the HP some finley crushed glass and salt. that is the only new ammo I use. Its great to use those factory reloads in the sigma for doing your target shooting.
