I just bought a sport on 12-8. I wish I knew about this sooner!
I'm not sure I understand the point of buying essentially the same gun again, just to have a FA and DC is? Especially, since those two items are things that are largely unnecessary and mostly unused? It'd be far cheaper to just get a stripped upper or something and transfer all the parts over.
Better yet, why buy a rifle without a FA and DC if ya want them? To save a couple bucks? A decent optic, trigger and 1k case of ammo will be a $1,000. Why cheap out buying a rifle that isn't just what the person wants?
If they had put the 1:8 twist in the Sport II rest assured I'd be buying one.
Cabelas has the Sport for $549 is that a good price or spend the extra money, new to AR's

looks like the Sport II is finally out. Grabagun just advertised it for $650 this morning
A guy on another forum says he got one at Cabela's yesterday for $549... thought he was getting the old Sport at that price, but got the Sport II.
I bought my Sport, in Dec 2012 and cold care less about having an FA & DC. The dam think has served me so we'll, (Better than the colt M4 I used in Iraq) .
Military rifles just plain get used and abused. You should have seen the hunk of junk M-16 they gave in Afghanistan.
It's just money. The things you learn along the way are priceless.
Ah, you're Air Force... ya wouldn't know what to do with a good one anyway!![]()
Doh!!! That hurts! May I have a hurt feelings report to fill out? LOL

My LGS actually got a shipment of five of the new Sport IIs yesterday. They were gone by midday today. The price was $619. I'm still happy with my original so I didn't grab one. That plus I have just bought a new LCP (at a really low price) a week or two ago.
I was able to handle one and it felt like a "sport". I like the looks a little better with the FA & DC. For my use, I don't really need either. I still prefer function over form. I'm a lover of the humpback J-frames, after all.![]()
