New Sport - Sight adjustment tool in box?

I'm picking up my new M&P 15-22 Sport later this week. I was doing some reading and viewing about what's in the box and have seen conflicting statements about the adjustment tool for the MBUS flip-up front sight being included.

Can anyone confirm if that tool came in the box with their new 15-22 Sport?

Yes, I just got my M&P 15 sport a few weeks ago. It does have the MBUS front and rear sights. There was also a small, black key you use to adjust the front sight with. It was in a small plastic bag attached to a small rail attachment.

You are welcome, Nabby. When adjusting the MBUS sights, there are a couple videos on YouTube that show how to do it easily. Th sight adjustment is a little confusing, think it is called F.O.R.S. Front Opposite, Rear Same. Check it out on Google or YouTube. Have fun!

Thanks. I've checked out several and that's what led me to hone in on tool and comments made about it. It did sound confusing, but I'm hoping it makes more sense when I actually have the gun and can see it first hand.

I'm looking forward to picking up the 15-22 and learning more about it. It should arrive at the FFL today, so I'm hoping to pick it up tomorrow.

The new 15-22 Sport should come with the MBUS sights and adjustment tool. Mine had a card with instructions for the MBUS which refers to using the tool. However, I couldn't find the tool in the packaging. I contacted S&W via website and they're sending me the tool. Great CS from S&W as usual!

Got a call from my FFL today that it was ready for pickup!

Opened it up and found the tool loose in the box, but it looks like everything is there, including the MBUS instruction card, the 2" rail and hex tool for it.

Mine came with the tool but it was worthless. Get a decent one for $5 at LGS or Amazon.

Same here. Works well with the Magpul MBUS front sight.

I didn't know the tool existed, my point of impact was low out of the box, just used my red dot screwdriver to depress the tab and my finger to turn the sight. Worked fine.

As with most tools, you can usually find something to substitute. But the proper tool is typically more convenient and minimizes the chances of damaging the sight.

I use a small Allen wrench to adjust steel sights on my ARs, but wasn't sure if the MBUS post was metal or polymer.
