Ok, i put a deposit down on one of these at Cabela's today. I will use it as a trail/hiking/fishing gun. The ammo ballistics look good on paper but its early. Practice ammo looks thin, but i am looking into the options. I will pick it up in the next week and post a range report. Anyone have one and how do you like it??

If you can pick it up in a week or even two that would be incredible! Even the S&W website is saying they aren't due for release until April.
So if you do take delivery, please post pics, eval, comments, etc.

I agree .327 practice ammo can be scarce but it's a stright case so if you reload it shouldn't be a big deal to develop the appropriate loads. Kind of like a .327 special. I think the most recent editions of the major reloading guides carry the .327 now.

I looked at the S&W website and it mentioned the new 632 in stainless is 2 1/8 inches, other sites say it is 3 inches. At least they got rid of that power port!!

Hey Peyton,
I think the websites that mention a 3" barrel on the 632 are still referring to the Carry Comp model. I agree with your sentiment on the power port. It was a waste of a good barrel.

Does it have a "lock" (ILS)?
No. :D AFAIK none of the new "Pro Series" revolvers have the ILS. Look at the picture of the LH side of the gun on the S&W product sheet:

FWIW one issue regarding handloading .327FedMag is that unloaded brass apparently isn't available for purchase because of licensing issues with Federal. You can only buy it with the primer, powder, and bullet preinstalled.

New Stainless 632

I think i confused the issue. This is a stainless version of the 3inch power ported barrel black revolver. Its not the one just introduced at the shot show. They had a couple-i just didn't have the time to do the paperwork or i would have taked right there.

.32 Magnum & .32 S & W

Gentlemen,
Since the .327 is a lengthened .32 H&R Magnum, you could use .32 Magnum, or .32 Smith & Wesson Long for practice (you could also use .32 Smith and Wesson, but that is pretty weak and not as readily available for reloading). Either would be much more pleasant to shoot, and much easier on the gun, than the .327, which is an extremely high-pressure cartridge.

So, the real question is: Why are the 3" exposed hammer and the 2 1/8" concealed hammer .327 Fed Mag revolvers both called the 632? That is both confusing and not in keeping with the traditional numbering system.

My understanding is that Freedom Arms has .327 brass in stock, or at least they did last I checked. Perhaps Starline will make it in the future. Unless and until I can persuade my chief to approve anything smaller in caliber than .355, I don't have any real use for the .327 other than academic. I really enjoy .32 H&R Magnum revolvers for plinking (and my handloads cost me only slightly more than .22LR), but I don't have any reason to shoot the super high pressure .327 for plinking.
