Just a simple range report, nothing fancy (no pun intended.)....

I put my 2nd session of 100 rounds in with my new 686-6 4" at 25 yards last night. Working on my sight picture, it seems I"ve been shooting high and to the left, so put a little less red on target and watched my trigger control more carefully. I"m pretty much useless with double action or 1-handed bullseye style at this distance, so I've been concentrating on 2-handed grip single action. I've been using Magtech 158 FMC.

Got to the point last night that I could hit the Magtech box about 3 times out of 6 at 25 yards. Not amazing, but I"m happy with my gradual improvement. There's something I love about a revolver; they seem to me a lot tougher to shoot, but much more satisfying when you are accurate.

Your shooting will generally improve with the more you shoot a handgun. The revolver itself if bought new tends to smooth out the trigger with the more rounds you shoot up to a point and then it will stay constant for a long time. My first revolver was a 686 no dash with 6 inch barrel and it was amazing how much the trigger smoothed out after the first 500 to 750 rounds and how much better I shot it.

Blast, I am just the opposite of you. I can shoot revolvers better than autos. I have a 586 no dash, 4", that i have shot at metal plates at 30 yds. That may be easy for some guys, but my eyes are certainly not getting better. When will your next Smith come knocking? Bob

I can shoot revolvers and autos about equally but I enjoy shooting revolvers so much more. If you watch the front sight, practice good trigger control and work on other issues like no caffeine, alcohol, exercise that emphasizes a good cardio workout, and other strengthening exercises, you will become a master shooter in no time.

I had a great time with a 686 4 "and 6" especially 11-16 yd with 38 spl:funny & precision!!!
