New Tires Needed? What Say You?

Perhaps some experienced tire experts here can weigh in on this query:

Does UV exposure accelerate tire degradation? If a vehicle is garaged when not in use, the tires see less UV. If it's used in cloudy Western Washington vs. sunny Arizona, the tires would see less UV. Does this matter at all?

Without doubt. When I needed new tires for my Jag XKR, the guy at the tire shop here in Vegas came out and said, "Please tell me you don't want Michelin PS/4s. The UV here kills them in less than a year". Apparently he'd just dealt with yet another irate Porsche 911 owner who had insisted on PS/4s and found they turned to hockey pucks in no time at all.

Just an FYI, but the Jag dealer in Palm Springs told me that once the original Dunlops or Pirellis are done on a Jag, switch to Hankooks. Yeah, color me shocked. He reckoned no other ultra high performance summer tire dealt with the heat as well.
