new to and wanting to start reloading

For what it's worth, I'll throw in another vote for the Lee Classic Turret. You can also use the Lee Deluxe Die sets with this. (4 dies) The only drawback that I see, is that ocaisionally, I have to adjust indexing. I load .38's, 9mm, & .40's. handloaders.com has good loading info on it.
Good luck! Bob

I am in the same boat(New to, but wanting to get in to reloading). I am in a tiny apt and a bench/station is out of the question. So I just ordered a Lee breech lock hand press, 9mm and .45 carbide die sets(And the extra breech bushings to go with them.), a scale, auto primer X, and a primer pocket cleaning tool.
Youtube videos convinced me I can do this. :)
Seemed like a no brainer set up for my situation, I wish I had room for a bench, I just don't. Being new to range shooting and my local range I don't even know of anyone I could hook up with, so this is it.

I'm not sure what else I'll need except cartridge components, and load data(Which seems abundant on the www).

I'm hoping to be able to replicate my retail bought range ammo(Except maybe softer shooting). If I can load up a couple hundred rounds on and off in my spare time(I have a lot of that.) over a month I'd be happy.

My local club has a reloading course(class) once every month or so, I plan on taking that.

I've got a small place too, im gonna build a bench using a heavy wood coffee table my dog chewed on. You could probably built up something similar.

My apt is about 500 square feet of area and it is as cluttered with jun.......er valuable stuff as it could be already. Lets just say that I'd not win that argument. :p

The whole reloading set will all have to fit in a average size duffle bag(small range bag sized) or some such that can be stored on a closet shelf.

I started reloading about 5 yrs. ago. Bought and read the Hornady book, lurked on a lot of forums, etc. I made shootable ammo from the start (better now) - it's really a simple process. Just be careful.

However if I were starting today with what I know now, I'd try to find an experienced reloader to help/teach me. When you start you don't know what you don't know.
I was very pleased at the progress I made after I got some advice/help.

You might want to look at the Lee auto index with 4-hole turret. I started out ~30 years ago with a Lee 3-hole system, which is still in service. Recently got the 4 hole auto index and it is great, particularly for handgun ammo. Perhaps not as quick as a progressive, but its simple, rugged, reliable and you can produce an impressive amount of ammo in an hour. Also look at the Safety Prime which attaches to the press--works great !!. You will probably need the riser (p/n 90041) when using the powder-thru die and auto disk powder measure, to get the measure high enough so it will clear the Safety Prime.
