Hi Ya'll from Texas! I own several S&W M&P pistols and a few S&W revolvers. I primarily joined to stay updated on the Sheild production. I am on 3 waiting list and have paid for 2 of them in full on 2 of the list. I got on the thrid list without putting any money down. I have been on both lists since June. Anybody have any idea when the Sheilds will be available? I have heard rumors that S&W has stopped production due to a mag problem. Is this true?

Welcome aboard keeter1911 from the great state of Pennsylvania! I am sure someone will jump in shortly with your "production" question.

Welcome to the site from Arid-zona!

I've not heard of any specific issues that would specifically halt Shield production! If anything S&W is currently swamped with orders. I'm very happy with my 9mm Shield...

They were closed for two weeks, for clean-up, but all reported for work this past Monday. Good luck, on getting the Shield.

Welcome to the forum. Best of luck on the wait. While some have had luck with buying multiple Shields, I'm still waiting on my 40. (9 weeks now) Hope production catches up with demand pretty soon.

Welcome. You didn't say exactly where you are in Texas but I have had the best luck finding my Shields at Carter's Country in Houston and Carroll's gunshop in Wharton. Carter's gets a truck in every Tuesday and Thursday. Get on their list and call each of those days at 3:00 pm to see what they got that day. You just get on the list at Carroll's and they call you when they get a shipment. Good folks at both shops. Find a shop that moves a lot of guns and your odds are better.

As for the magazine drop problem, check out a couple of the threads on here that have been ongoing for a month or so about, especially, the Shield 40. I haven't seen anything to indicate production has stopped until this problem is resolved -- in fact, there is rather widespread exasperation and annoyance that S&W does not seem to have addressed the problem that some Shield 40 owners (apparently those whose pistols were produced sometime after the first batch had been received by dealers) were having with magazines (especially the extended one) dropping from the pistol after a round was fired.

My Shield 40 came out in the first batch and I have had no problems whatsover with it, which makes me feel a bit guilty about and sympathetic to those who, based on the glowing initial reports, ordered the Shield 40 and experienced the magazine issues.

I don't think the 9mm Shields have experienced the same problem, so depending on which model you have on order, you might or might not have a similar experience once your third pistol comes in.

Welcome to the forum from North Carolina.
