Here is a jewel I found at the gunshow for $ 575.00. It's nearly mint. I didn't really have the money to spare but this was too hard to pass up. Good deal or bad any thoughts.

thanks
Sammy

Sweet...Sometimes you just have to do what ya gots to do::))

Good Shooter

She's a good shooter for sure. She's my first 10mm so she was a little hard to handle at first. I got used to it after about 100rds. Sounds a lot like a Howitzer goin' off. Thanks for the comments.

In today's market, that price is a real bargain.

Congratulations! You found yourself a real beauty there!

A third gen 10mm for $575 is a great deal. Be warned 10mm is addicting but is a great round. I'm sure you will get lots of enjoyment out of that 1006.

Seems the going rate for those currently is $600 so you paid the right price -

I have one and love it, if you feel the same - then let me make a suggestion that will surely change everything -

Pick up a Dan Wesson RazorBack 10mm or the lil' brother Commander Bob Tail in 10mm -

Believe me son - you won't regret it :D

1006's rule. I put 2 boxes of Double Tap thru mine yesterday. So fun, gotta love the muzzle flash!

I used to have one of these and it was a sweet handling and shooting weapon. I also had a Colt Delta Elite to go with it. Due to some financial difficulties, I let both of them go! And, I wish like the BLAZES that I had them both back. Oh, I also had an S&W 610 to go with them; same fate.:(

Keep this, enjoy this, and if you can handload, you'll be able to enjoy it a lot more.:)

Yes, it's a "boomer"! When you pull that trigger with "full-house" freight on board, you know you've let loose some chaos!:D

It's a shame that the "wimps" in the FBI were able to override the original thinking that brought about the 1006, or the version that the FBI had developed for them :(; it wasn't the 1006 and my memory fails me at the moment as to what it was. But, the complaints of: "It kicks to much", "It's to noisey", "It weighs to much", etc., etc., etc., were to much for the powers that be and it was quickly phased out.:p I guess they all forgot why it was created in the first place.

Anyway! You've got yourself a real jewel there!:) Enjoy it!

FBI pistol

Wikipedia
The Smith and Wesson Model 1006 is a recoil operated double-action semi-automatic handgun chambered in the powerful 10 mm auto cartridge. It is constructed entirely of stainless steel, a 5 in (127 mm) barrel and a 9 round single column magazine. Its safety is a de-cock/safety, internal safeties are a magazine disconnect and firing pin block. Factory single action mode trigger pull is about 5.5 lbf (24 N). It is available with fixed or adjustable sights.

The model 1006 was the first in the S&W 10xx series of third generation semi-automatic handguns. Variations include the models 1026, 1046, 1066, 1076 (FBI model) and 1086. The 10xx series were some of the most robust, sturdy 10 mm handguns ever built, easily handling the power of the potent cartridge. They are generally considered to be quite reliable and accurate.

Other third generation S&W auto series include the 5906, 4006 and 4506.

I was looking at the Dan Wesson 1911 style 10mm. I'ts not quite as beefy as 1006 but it is packed with custom features. I'm afraid that I'll have to save a few more bucks before I can take it home. They are running about $ 1100.00 in my neck o the woods. Is it true that Dan Wesson is the same as CZ ? I have two 1911's in .45 , A Smith & Wesson and a Springfield GI. Love them both.

Congrats used to have one just like it and it's little brother the 1076, loved them but I consolidated on the 45 acp as my auto round so they went on the block.

Congratulations! I own 2 of these and a 1066. IMHO, the absolute best platform for the 10mm. And so much fun to shoot! Enjoy!

Yes they are. I am currently on the lookout for the 1066 or 1076. I have seen a few 10xx series on GB and Gunsamerica, but the prices were a bit on the high end. Meanwhile I'll keep stuffing pennies in the piggy bank. I don't think the prices will be going down too much

good stuff

I hear ya Neal. I'm saving my premium ammo for the intruders. Only the good stuff will do for the home invaders.
