New to me 1956 Commander

Congrats, that's a nice pistol. I'd like to find a vintage .38 Super Commander that I could afford, but the prices are going up faster than my salary.

Me too. Twenty years ago when I bought my .45 LW Commander I passed on one in .38 Super because I'd have rather had a .45, boy do I wish I'd jumped on that .38

Here's my Commander in .38 Super, made in 1952:

Yeah, these are quite pricey, but mine came to me at the highest possible cost. No dollars, but from the estate of my best friend who passed in October 2021. We were friends since pre-school. I'd give it back a hundred times and gladly pay double market price if I could have my buddy back. :(

It was a birth-year gun for him.

Not a lightweight, but my 9mm Combat Commander, bought about a decade ago when I was shooting at a LGS's range. I think I paid $600 or it. Worked fine, but I like to have Cylinder & Slide "tune" my 1911 guns, so sent it there for their touch, new sights, hammer, and internals prn. Commanders are just perfect in my big hands. I have since given it to my son's wife.
