New (to me) 5906

I've been thinking about buying a 6906 from CDNN and now I'm kind of leery about doing it, with all these stories about the 5906's being pitted and scratched up. My 5906 came from Puerto Rico, and looks almost new. It's a police trade in and came in the original box, with all the paperwork and three mags for $325. I have another source for a 6906 at a good price, so I'm ok.

Sounds like you found a heckuva deal. $325 for a pistol in that condition plus accessories and paperwork is rare these days.

The 6906 is a tremendous carry piece. You should grab one if the deal is sound.

Bill Lester,
Could you change the color of your text from blue to anything else with more contrast? Very hard to read....

Regarding date of production...email S&W the serial number and they will get back to you within hours with the year of production.

FWIW I have VCE31** and VAV40**.
Both are from 1994 per S&W email response.

Enjoy your new pistol!

BG

EDIT - Have you fired yours enough to know what weight/pressure load it likes? I've noticed differences in mine.

I'm sorry but I don't use the current default settings. I hate the very dark blue background and went with the much lighter blue/grey color scheme of the "old" forum. You might want to make the switch yourself.

I haven't shot it nearly as much as I'd liked to have by this point. I just fought a case of pneumonia and other family tasks cut into my range time over the last month. The little bit I have done, primarily with WWB and CCI 115-gr. FMJ but also about half a box of ancient Federal Hydra Shoks, has been pretty typical for me with a service-type 9mm. Groups of about 2.5-3" on a 25' indoor range, handheld. No reliability issues at all.

White text doesn't work for you? How about sky blue? Your posts are so hard to read I tend to skip them. Or I highlight your text to improve the contrast.
