Hi all, its been a good while since I posted. I just made a trade for this gun and would like a little information if possible.

I see 41XX4 and some other stampings I am not used to seeing on Smiths, and wondering if someone would be so kind as to date this one for me. The grips were very tight like they had never been off but theres a blue ink stain as shown and I dont see any numbers on the grips. Didnt get much history on the gun except no one had fired it much. Very nice and tight and I cant wait to shoot it. Thanks in advance for any help and information.

Jim

The serial number is the ANBxxxx on the butt of the gun (circa 1985 or so). The other number is just manufacturing marks. I have no explanation on the grips (between us, they look mismatched - but it could be just the lighting).

Great gun. I wish I had a 3" 64.

The two numbers; one on the crane and the other on the frame are assembly numbers with the two parts are mated to one another.

They'd never put the s/n on the yoke. Loosen one little screw and it separates from the rest of the gun. Easily attaches to any other similar gun.

Nice gun!!! I have a 4" 64-3 that I picked up on a trade. It shoots quite well! 3" guns such as yours are a hot commodity! Enjoy it! Bob

Congrats on your find. I have the same gun and love it.

Near as I can tell, 3"-barreled Model 64s are pretty uncommon, especially the -3. I run into a lot more 3" Model 13s & 65s.
