I picked this 659 earlier this year. I gave $330 at a local sporting goods store. I was inspired by another forum member "sabre" to build a light box to take this photo. The 659 shoots good. I was shooting clay birds at 25 yards with it today.

$330 sound very reasonable. IIRC I paid something close to that for mine in 1985.

That's a high-cap, correct? Looks like the 639. If I'm not mistaken, the 659 was/is popular with police and other law enforcement agencies.

The model number is etched below the slide stop. It is a 659. A nice looking one too.

Uh, yeah, I see that it is a 659. Is it a high-cap 9mm?

wbw2 IMHO you should be the one to shoot your 659.
Life is short if you don't your heirs or someone else will certainly do the "popping".

I carried a 659 in the early 90's as a LE duty gun. Back then we were still issued revolvers until we transitioned to Glock's in 1993 so with having to purchase our own semi-auto's, I didn't hesitate to buy a 659. I loved my 659 and always regretted selling it but mine, like yours was an adjustable sight model and I always wanted a fixed sight model. At the time night sights were relatively new and the only way to get them on a 659 (back then) was to have a fix sight model. However, it fed, functioned and fired flawlessly. It was a tad heavy but it was just something we lived with. I have often considered replacing mine with another but I usually don't see them for sale for less than 400.00 so your price of 330.00 was an excellent deal, especially for one in that condition.

Nice find.

Wow! Nice photo!

I'd say you made out like a bandit, given how nice it looks.

Sadly, I traded away a 659, many years ago.

I later replaced it with a 5906. Not as nice looking, IMHO. I liked the polished slide better.
