New(to me) 669

I traded for a nice 669 today at a local pawn shop. They had it priced at $289, just one mag, no extras. The low price should have been a tip off to me.
I got it home and broke it down to clean and I have to say, it is the dirtiest used gun I have ever owned. The dirt was so caked up on the slide rails I was using my fingernail to scrape it off. The bore didn't look bad. This may have been owned by someone who had a boresnake and figured that was all the cleaning it needed.
It's too late now for me to get out anywhere and shoot it, but I'm sure it will do well. It's nice to have another S&W in the collection.

Keep a check on the frame for cracks around the rail and slide stop openings. We have had issues with departmental guns in the past.

I have one and it has been flawless over several years. Used mags are cheap and easy to come by.

Thanks rscalzo. I double checked it and it looks solid. Were the cracks related to using +p ammo, or an issue after x number of rounds? This gun is dirty from use, but doesn't look like it has alot of internal wear. Springs seem good, barrel and bore look great, it just didn't get cleaned.
Hopefully, I'll get out with it on Sunday.

I have one sitting on my left hip right now. I love my gun. I just had to replace its extractor after about 1000 rounds. It doesn't like steel case ammo. I carry 12+1 in it and a 14 rd reload from a 659 using fed hst 124 gr +p in it.
