About two months ago I was lucky to acquire my first S&W revolver; this 4" 686 (no dash). Based on serial number, it was shipped in '83. After much cleaning and new grips I am ready to show it off. I am overwhelmed by its smooth trigger and accuracy. FWIW, including the grips, I am under $500 spent.

That's a fine looking revolver. Love the 4" M686, it's a modern classic.

That's a nice gun at a great price. I'm looking for a 686 in either 4" or 3". Found the 3" NIB for 750, but am not sure yet which I would rather have.

My 686+ is newer than that and has the new hammer and teardrop cylinder latch release so it's fun to see one so much like mine but bigger and with different "furniture". You did great; the L series guns are amazing in my opinion.

You did well! Grips are very good looking too! I have a 586 no dash 4" from 1983, and a 6" 686-3. Mine are range guns only, and are a pleasure to shoot! Enjoy yours! Bob
A 686 is one fine pistol. I sure enjoy mine.

You can't do much better than the S&W 686 in any barrel length, though the 4 inch is the best balanced overall. Great deal price too. I paid that much for my no dash with box five years ago.
