I just couldn't resist posting a pic of my new acquisition! This is the second CS45 I've purchased from members here in the forum and I have found them to be everything I was looking for in an EDC. This one came to me pristine with a very low round count, and I installed the wood grips that I like for carrying. I was unsure how wood would look installed onto a black pistol, but I must say it looks dang good.

Just as soon as I can get it to the range to verify its functionality and reliability I will add it to my rotation. Thanks again to Dino44 for letting it go - I'm sure I will cherish it for many years to come.

I really like my CS's , they are great carry guns . They don't carry a lot of rounds , but how many of us have gotten in a firefight and needed more than 6 rounds . If so , that's why you carry an extra mag .

I have one of each . The CS40 I had converted to 10mm by B<MCM . Then I got another slide , sent it off to guzzitaco . So if I want to switch calibers , I just change the slide .

I like the Chief Specials a bunch!

For reasons that defy reason, I’d like to accumulate at least one of each possible CS variant (the variants being in caliber, finish and action type). I believe I’m 3 away from the objective. I’m still hunting for these rarities:

CS40D Black
CS40 Two Tone
CS45D Black

You have two now? That would be great.

The VERY outrageously cool thing is that the CS40 top ends are really happy on the CS45 lowers. (I got that idea from JohnHL of course.) They have been available for really good prices. No issues with the .40 mags functioning in the CS45 either. A CS40 barrel, (maybe an extra barrel,) could conceivably get converted to 10mm by Bill/BMCM. With one CS45 you could conceivably have have a triple convertible.

The very uncool thing is the availability, or rather the unavailability of recoil springs.

Jim

Hail to the Chiefs

I too likey CS Guns...an OG M&P Shield but better.

Since i carry and shoot others these are "a collection." Took more than a few years to put this together as i live in CA. The TT 40 is BNIB the others are AsNIB all with Full kits. I must have 6-7 mags for each too.

Think the grips look great on your blued CS. Usually I see them on the stainless models. Grabbed my CS9 back in 99 and has been a favorite carry gun for years. Thanks for sharing.

Is it something like 3.2 rounds per gun fight according to the studies? I know, that's an average as no one fires .2 rounds. ;) Still, the likelihood of needing 12, 16, 24, 200 rounds in a self defense situation is pretty low. If I find myself in such a situation my first realization was that I stumbled into the wrong place by accident at the exact wrong time.

That aside, nice pick up Jon651. I have a CS9s that I carry when I want to pocket carry a 3rd Gen. As it happens, it uses the same magazines as my pre rail 3913TSW.

I like the looks of the dark wood grips on a blue pistol.
Very old-school vibe, ya dig it man?
My main complaint is the thickness of the rubber originals. These are thinner right?

Congratulations on an excellent addition to your rotation!

The one "old school" thing I like the most about the CS45 is the .45 ACP rounds it fires. There is something that just resonates with me about being old, fat and slow! :D

Yes, the wood grips are thinner than the original rubber grips, or at least they feel that way to me. Now usually I would like a thicker grip because I have larger hands, but the wood grips on this model pistol feel better in my hand, in the holster I use, and they have an extra bit of length on the back strap which I especially like (the extra notch at the bottom back of the mag well).

I realize that I'm never going to be as comfortable shooting the CS45 as I would a 3rd Gen with a larger frame like my 4506, 4046TSW, or my Frankengun 4596, but it certainly carries a LOT more comfortably than any of them - and a self-defense pistol only has any practical value if you actually take it with you.
