Letter request submitted, will update thread when received. Anyone have approximate ship dates for revolvers in the 25000 serial range?

Also interested in any input on the holster, as I have not yet been able to identify the maker.

Until you get your letter, about the closest I can get is the early 1890s. All NM3 DAs are classified as antiques, even though some were shipped into the Twentieth century, all of this model are considered antiques.

You have a very nice condition revolver.

The holster is a typical catalog stye holster as sold by large retailers, like Sears & Roebuck, Montgomery Wards, and various hardware & sporting goods stores. Makers varied for these holsters, as contracts went to the low bidders, who were often well know makers of quality holsters, but did not want to put their name on the holsters they made for these outlets and used catalog numbers only, as seen on the back of your holster. Ed.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I am very pleased with both the revolver and the holster. Have had an itch for a good .44 DA to go with my NM#3 American for a long time. Sure wish letter turnaround time was faster! :)

As usual, Ed is right on the money. Here's a catalog cut from a 1928 Hudson Sporting Goods catalog. The holster on the left is close- such holsters were a cut above many hardware store holsters and a cut or 2 below a saddlery made holster. They were popular from the late 1800's up into the 1940's.
Beautiful revolver with a great period holster, thanks for posting this.

Letter received today. Shipped 17 March 1892 to Simmons Hardware in St. Louis...a happy result - always like finding out guns in the collection were shipped to the home state.
