I went and picked up my K-32 (pre 16) from my FFL this afternoon. I wasn't expecting it until next week, but hey, I'm not complaining.:)

It has a narrow rib, which surprised me. The place I got it from is quite a ways away from me, so all I could look at were pictures he sent me before going ahead and buying it. I had asked him about the rib because the pictures made it look like it was a wide rib, and he said yes, it did have the wide rib (which the book says it should be for this time frame as well). I have a narrow rib on my 17-3 and greatly prefer it to the wide rib on my 14-1. The k-32 also has the target trigger and hammer. The stocks on it aren't numbered to it, but are within one year according to the SCSW 3rd. There is a wear spot on the right side at the muzzle, and a blemish near the muzzle on the left side. Any other marks in the pics are from handling to take the pics.

These pics were taken in haste this evening, so they're all I have right now. A couple by it self, and a couple of the trio.

17-3 in front, K-32 and 14-1 at the back-

Nice catch sir. She looks like she was well cared for.
The 32 S&W Longs are a great shooting cartridge and easy to reload.
Congradulations, your going to have a lot of fun.

P.S. Better stain that deck next spring. LOL

Ya think? LOL Too funny!

It's an old hot tub deck that gets used mainly for taking pictures of guns.:D

That's the trio I want. Already have two of the three, but the K-32 is elusive.,

You sir, said a mouthful! I have yet to see one "in the flesh." I have been turning Virginia upside down to see if I can shake a '52 shipped one out. So far all I've found is lint and a few lifesavers.

That's in great condition for a hard to find revolver. If you don't mind I'd like to know the approximate serial number.

I call all of those ribs heavy ribs because in the 1950s all three were cataloged as heavy ribs. As you know their width varied and the .32 and .22 ribs tapered to make all three revolvers weigh the same while loaded with five cartridges. I call the earlier untapered ribs that were the same width as model 15 ribs skinny ribs. I can see how the seller would substitute the word "wide" for S&W's name "heavy" if you gave him a choice between "narrow" and "wide". In some side view pictures it's easiest to tell what barrel a Masterpiece has by looking for the beveled frame corners that match an early skinny rib.

Anyhow you're fortunate to have found such a nice .32 Masterpiece.

From what I could find the other night in the database, this one probably shipped in '58.

As for the rib, I know what you are saying. I didn't want to confuse the seller any more than it seemed like I already was. He was familiar to a decent extent with older S&W's, but didn't seem to know a lot about the ribs. the pics I saw didn't show the area at the front of the topstrap well enough to determine which rib it had, but the shots of the barrel made it look wide like my 14-1.

Who cares about the deck Gun 4 Fun, that is a sweet .32. Many envious members, including me!! Plus the grain in the 17-3 stock is beautiful.

Those grips are actually off my 15-3 and number to that gun, but I needed them to keep all three wearing period correct magnas that would have came on them for the pictures. The grain on the right panel is even nicer yet. I'm pretty good at identifying wood grips usually, but these have me a bit puzzled. they have the color of GA and the grain of GA, but I also have some walnut magnas that have decent grain that is similar, but the usual walnut color. I'm just not sure on these.

I was out looking at the night sky last night and I swore to the east nor' east there was a glow over Michigan. Not quite the star over Bethlehem but darn close. Well now I know what it was....
......Gun 4 Fun picked up a crown jewel for his collection!

Wow, that is a stunner; a real sweetheart. Good for you and glad you found that one. So how did you stumble across it? You say it was far away. Was it advertised or did you have a connection? They sure don't show up in local gun shops very often.

Gun4- My K-32 loves the Fiocci wadcutters, very accurate, My 16-4 likes them too. Before all the crazyness you could find them for about $13 a box. Enjoy that K-32, they are a joy to shoot.

I must be a lucky guy. I bought a nice HB K32 right here on this forum. Shipped 10-19-1952. I could not believe that revolver was for sale here and I was the first to inquire. It is a real nice one too. 100% matching in 98% condition. Big Larry

I can't give up all my sources now can I?:D
I was actually just going from gun link to gun link after googling something else for one of my guns one night, and came across this one at a gun shop in another state. I called and they said they still had it, and well..............

Very nice gun!! I hope you're going to shoot it a bit. I have a 16-2 and a 16-4. I've tried handloads with Berry HBWCs and have had poor accuracy with that load. I suspect the bullets may be too small in diameter.

I'm interested in your experience.
