I recently won an auction for this police trade M&P40. It included 3 - 15 round mags, all 4 palm swells, manual and factory hard case. It has just a small bit of holster & use wear but from many indications inside it does not appear to have been fired a great deal nor do the mags show much use. ( Camera glare on the one.) Including the shipping, insurance, tax and FFL transfer I have $317 in it. S&W CS told me that it was shipped 2-2014.
Once home I changed out a palm swell, replaced the recoil spring assy. with a factory new one, cleaned and lubed it per instruction and cleaned the mags.
Taking advantage of one more day of unseasonably warm temps here I got out to test fire it with Federal American Eagle 180 gr. FMJ and a few Federal HST 165 gr. The pistol functioned without a hitch with both from all 3 mags. Primer dents were well centered and fired cases landed 6' to 10' from me mostly at 4:00 to 5:00. I found it to be very controllable firing double taps during my crude drills and though I've never been a precision marksman for group size I was pleased with it's combat accuracy.
These were among some of the first shots me getting accustomed to the POI vs. the POA and the trigger, firing offhand. The very last shot I took for the session was the one that clipped the " X ". I have no doubt that this pistol is far more accurate than I am. So far so good with this one.
