Just traded for a m60-14 .357mag. Been looking for one of these
or a LCR 357 for months and the whole time, a friend of mine had
one he was wanting to get rid of. It came with the box but no
spent cartridge envelope giving me a date of manufacture and he
wasn't sure when he bought it. It has a Serial # of CZLxxxx.
Anyone have an idea of when it was manufactured?
Thanks,
Dano

My SCSW book didn't have a "CZL" prefix. I suspect it was made after 2015 as that's where my book ends.

Your box may have a label which indicates the year and day. Perhaps you could post a photo of the box label.

Congratulations on the fine addition to the Family

I am a big fan of the J-Magnum firearms

The Date of Manufacture is printed on the end label that Smith & Wesson puts on the box

On that era box, it should be a 5 or 6 digit usually below the model number

If you can not spot it, just post an image of the label and someone will come to your aid

I found a receipt for when he bought it under the folded over
piece of triangle shaped cardboard. It was for 6-18 16. Could the
040616 on the label be the date as is April 6th, 2016? If that's not
it, I can't find the date some of you mentioned might be on the
label.
Thanks,
Dano

That is it

Almost all computer printed box labels (98%+) starting back in the mid eighties have had the Date of Manufacture printed on them in one way or another

I have a 60-10 that I am very fond of. In fact it has been following me to the ranch for some casual steel plate shooting the last couple weekends.
My daughter has a -15 that she carries.
I have not shot one of the shorter barreled 60's in 357. The 3" is plenty enough, but someday I need to try that.
Congrats on a nice grab.

Great. I kinda like to know when a gun was made, especially if
it's one I plan to keep. :D Like this one: S&W m66-2
.357 Magnum 3" AHLxxxx. Made in 1985 for Ashland
Shooter Supply. Only 4195 were made. It's my favorite
revolver by far.
