I recently picked up this Md 459 off GB and took it to the range yesterday. The gun ran well. The original mag ran flawlessly. I have 3 like new MecGar 17 round mags I used on a RSR Md 6590 I sold, stupid I know. One stainless steel mag fit and fired okay, but I had to pull the mag out as it didn't drop free. The other two MecGars are blued and they would act like they were locked in place but were probably friction fitting. After chambering the first round, the trigger wouldn't work. I had to lock back the slide and pry the mags out by pushing in from the slide opening and pulling on the bottom. A major disappointment.

And ideas?

I just get some replacement wood grips from Thailand. Required a little fitting. They are a lot thicker than the original plastic ones so I don't know if I'll like shooting with them.

Thanks
Chris

Wonder if the trigger's draw bar has been pushed into the magazine well a little? Maybe a raised edge or bur on the draw bar intruding into the magazine well?

UPDATE: I added the wood grips after I fired the 459 at the range. The issue occurred with the original grips. Today, I decided to check on the trigger bar per stansdds suggestion. No issue with the bar. However, all mags seated properly and dropped free when it was only the grip frame. I decided to put the slide back on. Every MecGar and original mag seated properly and dropped free. I chalk that up to PFM (pure frigging magic). I did buy 2 United defense mags which seat and release properly with just the frame but not the slide.

Don't know what else to think about this but if the MecGars and the original continue to work well, who cares?!!

Thanks for the advice. I can use all the help I can get.

Chris
