I have the gun I have wanted for a long time, a Model 27-2 pinned and recessed in near mint condition. No box or papers, but I got the gun.

Thanks to crsides, my new child is sporting some "Pepsi" grips. Not cokes (the real thing) but the same shape handcrafted by a fine gentleman. Thanks for you advice and prompt shipping. I may do some more shaping for a final custom fit.

Happy here in Houston.

Isn't it the best feeling in the world when you finally get a gun you've wanted for a long time?

Congrats! Although I'm not a big time revolver guy, I can appreciate a fine firearm when I see one. Good looking piece.

Did not know about the scarcity of the 4" barrel. I just can't stop looking at it.

I understand.
I bought a nearly 100% 4" M27-2 about 13 years ago from a private seller at a gun show. Talked him down to $300 OTD. No box or papers, but that thing is spotless. I had no idea how rare that barrel length is until I joined the Forum.
Now I want a 3 1/2" and a 5".
That's what happens when you grow up reading Skeeter Skelton.
Congratulations on that one. It's a keeper.

Yes you're right about Skeeter and that cowboy feller with the big hat was cut from the same cloth, I finally got a 5" model 27-2, and a nickel 5" pre 27 with 2 months of each other, as well a a 3.5" 27-2, all from my forum buds, thanks guys and to Nanook 450 and S&W Chad for the stags and diamond magna's respectively. I sent a nice Ruger 44 Flatop down the road to do it, but I'm kinda smiling, I do miss THAT Ruger!billy

The relative scarcity of the 4" 27-2 is something that seems to
come up often in various posts. Made only for 1-2 years? The
sought after barrel length is usually the 3 1/2" or 5" Are there
any production numbers available as to the actual number of
27-2s in the various barrel lengths?
