Picked up a model 36 Chiefs Special in Nickel. Went by my local Pawn shop to see what was new & there she sat. Finish was rough toke few hours of Feltz & Renaissance wax to make her shine. Based on the serial number 181xxx I estimate it to be the last 3-4 months of 1959.

Thanks Mike

Hello mmais, from S FL. What a great little hip pocket carry gun.
Clean her up, check for function and carry. My Mod-38 is sitting in my hip as we speak. Just a little bark in your pocket. I go to all the Pawn Shops down here. Some times you find that acorn. Best.

Ah , the Chief's Special --- The standard by which all snub nose revolvers are measured! And a flat latch to boot!

Congratulations on acquiring that iconic firearm.

Possibly so, but you need a letter to find out for sure. I have one on my list having a lower SN which shipped in mid-1960.

Hi Mike,

That's sure enough a little sweetheart. Nice find. Looks like the grips are after market "high horns" for the Model 40 and 42 Centennials and trimmed to fit. Probably more hand filling.
