Picked it up toady, LNIB, went straight to the range for 100 + rounds of FMJ & +P. This is one of the sweetest shooting J Frames I’ve ever handled. Cleaned it when I got home & carried it tonight going to dinner w/friends. I literally could not tell the difference in my pocket between it & my 340PD, and the 340PD is brutal even w/+P, which is how I carry it. It may replace the titanium as my EDC. I’m curious if anyone else has had a similar experience w/the Pro series of J Frames.

I have carried a 442 for 20+ years until the finish wear dominates the finish. It carries easily and shoots very slick. For grins, I shoot plates with my .38 IDPA ammo in the 442.
My old pre-lock 442 is made very much like the current 442 Pro version.

Don’t think that shooting 100 or more rounds, at one session, out of my 442, would be classified as a sweet experience.

My EDC is a 442 NL.

I don't shoot it at the range every weekend, but enough to make sure I am competent with it.

Of all the J-Frames I have owned, this is my favorite.

I still have my Dad's 36 and my brothers 640-1, but they are more sentimental pieces than EDC guns.

Sold my Model 36 to another officer and p/u a Model 60 for off duty when they first came out, can’t recall what I paid, but I was smart enough to hang onto it.

I probably could have worded this better but I do agree. What I meant to impart was the 442 Pro was one of the sweetest shooting J Frames I’ve handled, but my sore hand does not make it a sweet experience.

I missed my old 340 but couldn't stand the lock so eventually sold it off without any real loss. I have a LCR but just picked up a new 442 pro as I wanted the ability to use the moon clips. Haven't shot it yet as I'm trying to dry fire the **** out of it and waiting on a Apex kit to arrive.

How are the moon clips? I had bought a pack of TK's that seem to be perfect but the TK's that came with my gun look like wavy potato chips. I already emailed S&W asking for replacements. I'm not going to carry a reload on clips but I do like the positive ejection of the whole unit.

The moonclips are strong but if you really tried you can bend em.

I don't remember shooting more than a box in one visit with mine.

I think I got my extra moonclips from TK . They were just like the originals. The same.

I had a brushed nickel 442 that I carried for years as a BUG. In those days, I had to qualify with it just like a duty weapon which meant shooting at 25 yards for 10 rounds, plus the short range stuff for a total of 50 rounds. Loved that little gun. Have the Pro Series now and love it. I most often carry my Shield, but still occasionally the 442. I put a Apex Duty kit in mine. The moon clips are ammo brand specific...I found out the hard way.
