Howdy fellers. I'm pretty new around here. I had an awesome 629 classic hunter that I bought in 1988. Problem is I went into business for myself and had to let it go in the early years. I promised myself I'd replace it one day.

Although it's not quite the same, today is the day. Just bought a 629-5 performance center stealth hunter. Funny thing, I've read on a couple of sites that the -5 was the last pre-lock. Not so fast, this has a lock. (I don't care btw). I bought it used but in mint condition and am wondering what year it was made. Serial #CUC9xxx

Purty pics for your help:

.... 629-5 performance center stealth hunter. ....has a lock...... Serial #CUC9xxx

The ship date was.................

April 2013.

So it's most definitively NOT a -5 (even if it IS marked as such). It's very likely a -6 that has a badly buggered up "-6" that looks like a "-5". There is a lesser possibility that it was miss-stamped "-5". Miss-stamped guns are known to happen, but they most often occur during times of transition from one engineering change to another, roughly.

AFAIK the last -5's shipped sometime in 2001, fifteen years ago. That's an awfully long time for an assembly worker to absent mindlessly forget there had been a shift to a new dash number. Possible, but very remote.

Open sights. Resting on a 2x4. Sights covered entire target stand, so my hold may explain the flyers. Optics would help. That's on my list.
