New to the 15/22 Intro:

i have the same red dot that i just replaced. if you look at both pics, your red dot is the same way which is correct. the mount itself does not really matter. for placement, most people go towards the front of the receiver without mounting to the handguard which can flex.

i actually used nail polish cause it was cheap and easy to clean up, just use acetone free remover so you dont damage the finish.

btw not all mapgul pts parts are made in china, just the replica. the pts line is an actual magpul line for airsoft that is high quality. its the replicas that are chinese made.

once you have decent optics and a comfortable grip, the FCG is your next place to upgrade as mentioned. i just did the jp yellow springs for a slightly lighter pull and polished the mating surfaces slightly to make it smoother.

btw welcome and enjoy!

Thanks I will try to get it out to the range tomorrow and sight in the flip sights and red dot. I bought both the pts magpul sights and the moe version. The quality was far superior for the moe version sights. The pts felt like a low grade plastic. Either way I am very happy with my setup. I just need to get a barrel wrench now

Great info here even some sarcasm. I didnt know buying a barrel nut wrench would cause such a debate:D

It's kinda like a newspaper or a TV station - you never know what will get fixated on when it's a "slow news day". :)

PLEASE don't take any difference of opinion personally; they are seldom meant to be that way.

Have Fun with your 15-22; that's the whole idea.

Just saw this post after I posted on the other thread about the barrel nut wrench. I can take sarcasm with the best of them but if one dishes it one must be able to take it. No hard feelings here. I am learning on this rifle its the first one of its kind that I have owned.:D

You made a good choice. It certainly fits the category of a "fun gun". I have five other rifles (including 2 .22s and a .223/.5.56) and I shoot this one more than all the others combined.

BTW, shooting a .22 LR vs a centerfire doesn't save you any money - it lets you shoot more for the same amount. :D

That is true, I went to the range with a buddy last week he brought his AR and we ended up putting that away and just plinked around with my s&w

Welcome to the madness. Put your credit cards in a bowl of water, then put that in the freezer. Keeps you from making rash decisions.
I agree with Majorlk, this rifle does not save you any money, but you do get a lot more shooting in.

Hmmmmmm I think I may need to use that idea.

Yup. But that is all good IMHO. I reload my own 9x19mm and .45ACP and I don't spend any less on shooting, but I easily shoot 3 times as much.

I'm thinking the .22LR is going to be the same way. Locally it is 30 rounds of .22 for the price of 3 5.56mm rounds......

Well the inital cost was a savings and atleast the ammo is cheaper. I have found that like my ruger 10/22 this thing is far to easy to drop money on left and right. Luckily for me I dont have credit cards so if I want something I have to have the cash in the bank to cover the cost;)

Ah, a wise man. :)

I didn't have credit cards until returning from NYC, where I'd spent all my cash, I found no one would cash a check for me, and I had to lie (about having to pay by check) to spend the night in a hotel, then conned a gas station to let me pay for the gas with a check made out for $10 more. When I got home, I applied for credit cards, and never have looked back.

TO, but now I use them to pay /everything/ and make hundreds of dollars per year by getting cash back (1% to 3%). Hell, I even charged $10,000 of my new car! ;)

Same here. I seldom spend cash, although I carry somewhat more than pocket change. :)

All the recurring charges are by direct pay.

My brother in law bought a used care with his VISA because the interest was less than a bank loan.

See there Is a thin line between using credit properly and using it badly. I found that out during my divorce last year and got screwed. I say I don't have credit cards when in all actuality I have 1 card that stays in my house for big major purchases. Long story short bankruptcy sucks *** do to a crazy ex..
